Mine is mounted ( measured from the transom) about 48" from back of fin to trans. Its about 24" from back of fin to the front of intake fins.

100's of seadoo's and jet skis and the twin powered pwc "boats" never had intake fins...why? less drag?

I cut my intake fins off and there was no change in handling and it eliminated my cavitation issues during hard turns. Go for it!
