Doin a little research .

As an example ; Lets say you and your buddies or wife or whoever are gonna go out and have some drinks or just play some pool or grab a bit to eat maybe even cut a rug . So your group decides your gonna go to "such n such" location . What is it about this place that makes you go back . What makes these places your hangout . How is it that this one place of all places stands out enough to make you want to spend your money and valuable time there , repeatedly .

You must be really bored tonite. To answer your question, good service, cool atmosphere, fun staff(waiters/waitresses), and of course good food and drink. I have found that hangin at the same place alot does have its perks. I go to alot of the same places for lunch alot during the week and it seems that I may get a little better sevice and more attention than some of the non regulars.

Don't do much of that anymore, 3 kids and all, but ...
for me it's simple and is said on an 80's TV program: "I just want to go where everybody knows my name" - Cheers.
Seriously; it's the people that work there; I worked in the bar business all thru high school and college and did ALOT of running around throughout my 20's (before kids) and it came down to the people that worked there; I had a few hangouts where everybody knew everybody; had softball teams with both customers and patrons, etc. It was more like home than home.

I usaully try new places by word of mouth. We get that Entertainment Guide every year and it gives a chance to try a new place without having to pay full price.

Doing alot of things around the house at the same time. Watching the Garth Brooks concert on CBS. I get to go tommorrow night and sit in his personal section. I got friends in HIGH places.

When I used to live in corona, I would drive all the way to La Habra to go to El Cholo. They are the pioneers of awesome mexican food and drink. The original one in L.A. is frequented by a lot of celebrities who slip in the back door. They used 1800 and cointreau before most people even knew what tequila was. If you like tamales OMG do they have the hookup. I don't know what they put in those drinks but in the 80's pitchers were only $6.50 and got me laid and passed out every week without even leaving the parking lot

Sometimes its good to be young and dumb. I see they now have a location in Irvine. Another reason for me to hate the OC. If you haven't tried this place you are missing out

I realize you guys are mainly focusing in on the restaruant . Which is quite a large under taking . Lets think smaller . Like a watering hole you frequent , and not just for drinking either . There is one by my house that has tons of nice pool tables , beers cold and cheap , good music on the juke box . You know that type of shit I'm talkin about . Well that's what I like anyways .

The Mint, downtown Bakersfield, it's dimly lit, has a kick ass jukebox, free pool, cheap drinks (way stiff too) and the bartender is one of my best friends, matter of fact he's coming to Parker with me in June. Maybe we'll hit it when y'all are here for the races @ Ming. Did I mention the fact that this bar is a dive and attracts everyone from transvestites to stock brokers? that keeps it interesting.

tonight when we were there I ruled the jukebox for 2 hours, drank my share of Sambuca and Coors, and threw (literally, grabbed him by the throat and tossed his ass out the door) some jackass out of the bar, in the end it cost me $20, and that was just the tip to my bro. I love that bar.
