the only other duramax guy i know is chromey and he hasnt chimed in yet i been wanting to line up and run him though...so did you decide on anything yet eric? for sure without the programmer that turbo loves to breath! any exhaust or intake will give you a noticeable difference...i would suggest the afe cold air and atleast 4" exhaust because unlike dodge gm comes with too small of exhaust...its strange unlike gasoline engines it doesnt take much to wake them things up...another perk is diesels like sulfer in the fuel any type of additive will help the injectors with the sulfur issue...seems like every year they take more sulfur out of diesel fuel and its hard on injectors...anything else?

i went with efi live you get 2 tunes in the tuner and then you can buy more and do them your self from the lap top im mostly looking to improve mpg with out that much adding much horepower but it gets better mpg with more hp it should be here tomorrow and exhaust will be next it looks like you need to do it all at once ?? they said i can leave it on +90hp and be fine with stock trans but can bump it up to +150 once in a blue moon and with a built trans and other stuff you can get +300

sounds good its amazing what you can do with them things...the trans work is simple too...have you seen that episode on trucks were they took a duramax duely 4wd...and pulled a semi with a bull dozer on the trailer 130 thousand pounds...way awesome...the one scary thing is seeing all that stuff going on in your motor....it gets scary sometimes...i start getting nervous seeing the pyro over 1000 degrees, but i think your good to about 1300...i set my truck to defuel around 1250....

I run the Edge Juice W/Attitude on my 6.0 Powerstroke and could not be happier. I know that's not what you are asking but, I figured I would chime in. My truck is a beast and real damn fast especially with the amount of lift and tires. I run that chip with Airaid intake, RBP straight 5"exhaust and it runs great. MPG sucks but, I don't care about that. With a stock height truck and a good setup, your MPG will shoot up for sure. Effeciency=HP and to a certain extent, HP=MPG. At least till you start getting crazy.

The reason your MPG sucks is because you have the Edge programmer. sure the black smoke looks cool when you step on it but black smoke also eqauls wasted fuel. I have the same set up on my 6.0 with the Superchips flashpak and I couldn't be happeir. with 37's I was getting 14 in town and 18 on nthe hwy. Not to mention that it is fast and doens't drop all the fuel that should be being burnt. Another thing you have to worry about with programmers like the juice is that D.O.T. CHP is cracking down on diesels. There are some welders out here where I work that have strait exhasut set ups that like to dump the smoke. One got pulled over for having a strait pipe and had to have it towed from the grapevine back home. The black smoke is what got him flagged.

I don't run my programmer all the way up typically so I don't blow black smoke. Also, the reason my MPG sucks is because my truck has 44" tires with 19" of lift. I don't really care about MPG at all. I was just chiming in trying to help the guy out on his decision making.

Did not change gears and it ended up costing me. Getting transmission changed right now actually. It is also about 10" lower now because of the local police not liking it as much as I did. It now has 12" lift with 39.5" IROK's. In this picture, it is still the 19" lift with 44" CJ2222 and Aquaholic have seen it when it was this size. It was pretty sweet. I miss it being this big but, it is a little more usable now and still pretty damn cool. Is yours lifted?

Man you are skying the 44's. That is crazy. Mine has a three inch Donahoe(sp) kit on it. clears 37's but I recently tokk it down to 35's just for more clearence. Sold my rock crawler to get the boat so this has to get me around on the racnh when hunting. 37's were find but would have made themselves more room if needed and thats what I wanted to avoid. You going to change the gears? That right there will save you money again. Initually not cheap but so worth it in the long run. Will make your 40's seem like stock.

Just helped a buddy install a Banks Six Gun tuner on his '06 6.6 Duramax. Awesome tuner, made big power gains in the truck. It's got six power levels so you can tune for economy or animal. One thing though....I'd recommend getting the PowerPDA with it. Gauges suck and are a pain in the ass to install.

the 6.0 powerstroke was the worst thing international "nav star" could ever build...ford and nav star are still counter suing each other from that thing...the only good powerstroke they ever had was the 7.3 IMO

Why don't you have a warranty. As for the brand if I had the money I would have bought a cummins or duramax for the tranny. However I got my truck as an 06' with 30k miles no it lifted with DVD and full system for 24k from my sisters bf. Can't beat that price. How did you lose the warranty though?

One of the selling points I got from gale banks is that the tuner doesnt leave a footprint, so how the hell the dealer gonna know

unless you leave it plugged in when ya take it in. Also I didnt see anything in my warranty about that either. The other thing the guy was telling me was that its illeagal for them to tell you that you cant add aftermarket items (Magnussen Act) Because THEY want to sell em to you, which would be a monoply. Just what I was told, so if anyone knows if true or not, I would like to know

I have an email somehwere that has the link to the actual court case in regard to performance mods on your ford truck an dwarranties. I will have my co-worker resend it to me on monday. I have a buddy that works for ford and said that you can make any mod without voiding the warranty. However if the dealership can prove that mod is the root cause of the problem it will not be covered under warranty and the warranty can be voided. As for the tuner all you have to do is set it to stock and take it out of the vehicle. Make sure no stickers or box in the vehicle to. I am almost 100% sure he said that if they find the programmer it will void the warranty. However you set it to stock and take it out before you go to the shop you should be covered. I know I have had mine in a few times. Truck has air raid intake straight exhaust and programmer. I set it to stock and take it out before I go in and have yet to have any warranty issues.

guess it wasnt clear enough for you...i call bs that the edge get shitty mileage....my statement is all the powerstrokes dont get good gas mileage...

All I am saying is that the Edge programmers (This is coming froma couple of friends who own diesel performance shops mind you.) are notorious for casuing a big smoke cloud when accelerating. Black smoke = unburnt fuel if I am not mistaken. Take into account I may be wrong since I am not a diesel mechanic. this is just how it was explained to me.

yeah you are correct...unburnt fuel...from my first hand experience my edge puffs no black smoke with everything turned up...and since my truck is an 02 it was not equipped with a cat...so i dont know what to tell you there...only time ive seen black smoke is at sea level
