EARTHQUAKE

According to the coordinates from USGS and Google earth I figured out my house was 5.96 miles from the epicenter. Wife lost some things off knick knack shelves, neighbor's refridgerator moved a foot and a half and another neighbor had some cabinets emptied onto the kitchen floor. No structural damage and no injuies.

I'm in Chino and I didn't think it was that bad. To me it seemed pretty quick.
It started as a roll, jolted pretty good and then finished off with a roll.
What got me was the noise. There is nothing like it. Only a couple of small things came off the shelf.

Yeah...I work there in Pomona at a car dealer right next to Chino Hills it wasnt nutthin'...kinda cool actually...The place is made with metal roofs so I actuslly heard it commin'....Stood outside of my stall and rode the "roll" out...Then I was concerned about my kids.... I have lived in SoCal all my life...it's no big deal..I just ride 'em out and then make sure my kids are Ok!

yeah i live in chino hills but i was driving to vegas so i missed it girlfriend said everything was fine but heard there was some damage to buildings in the area.

I have heard about more damage in the Yorba Linda/Fullerton area than in Chino/Chino Hills.
Maybe it makes a difference with what side of the faultline your on.

Late 1980's... Damage at my shop. +/- 50 or so crankshafts that where standing up got
damaged. "Girl friend" runs out of the house "Totally Naked" like a dumb ass.

Today...I get home from work,...Check out the house... Everything ok.

Just some things out of place. Go to my garage where my precious 66' Corvette is sleeping,
and I find a Light fixture laying on my hood...Which took a chunk out of my hood .
Earthquakes suck....It seems that the city of Whittier always has "Sht" Happen

i lived in diamond bar at the time of the whittier narrows quake....i remember it vividly....i was probably about 9 years old...for some reason, that one always stands out in my memory.

To me this quake felt worse... I have lived here in Whittier since "1973" and
This one literally shook the house worse than any other that I can recall..
But, then I guess , we are in a fault line here. Hope all of you are Ok!

EngineDoc...you are on THE fault line...they said that it was based out of the Whittier Narrows fault line

got a call from my uncle who got home an hour ago to find water running out of his garage. The friend next door turned off the water when they got home at 4 so it had been running all day. Went inside to see the self and all the stuff on it fell off broke the water line going into the washer and wrecked the whole quarter panel on his very nice el camino. He had all his engine parts blower, carbs ect on the floor in boxes the were soaked and all the dry wall in the garage also.

this morning, i was standing in my 'slanted' driveway, with my 1/2 ton dodge ram backed up to the garage, i was cleaning my carburator on my tailgate, then it started: truck started swaying, the 3 slabs on my driveway started moving against each other, my brother's gf's CRV was moving forward and backward against its parking gear, then my focking truck slid almost a foot down my driveway! in long beach! how focking random is that? the sound of the concrete moving back and forth was one of the most unnatural sounds ive ever heard. i would'nt have guessed half of that would happen so far from the center of the shaker...weird.

needless to say, my heart was pounding for awhile after haha.

Glad to hear there were no major damage or injuries, come to think of it we have not had our five year yet, hope it's not too big, the '89 quake kicked our ass.

i was on my way to the doctors for some blood pressure check ups, and i was listening to the world famous KROQ and the DJ was talking and then stopped talking saying there was an earthquake, and i could feel my F-250 rockin and rollin, and i was on Imperial Hwy right off the 57 thats about 2 miles before Diamond Bar. all the lights on the street were moving weird shit, i hate earthquakes. well my blood pressure wasnt very good after all that.

Dude, could have been way worse, think about it, you could have been in the middle of a prostate exam when the quake hit, talk about an ass kicker

Quakes don't freak me out as much as doctors with their hands up your bumm.
