I'm a cheap bastard, and I like to know its done right. I change all my own oils.

So oils are 5w/30, 20/50, ect........forget u straight 50 boys......

The question: is it better to drain these multi-grade oils cold better.....? 20cold/50warm.....should drain better cold.....right?

I have always warmed my engine before draining.......technology says thats wrong......

What say U?

There's another school of thought that say's when you last ran the motor, you probable shut it down while the oil was hot, so any crud that is  in the oil has now drained down and is sitting in the pan ready to be removed.   If you fire it and warm the oil, you have now re-distributed any crud in the oil back throughout the motor, and chances are it won't all drain down before you're done draining it.  I guess it just depends on how critical getting all the shit out of the pan is to you.

I'm with Ralph let it sit a couple days and use what ever method to drain or suck it out. The Wally mart ones work good for 12 bucks by overtone but I use a remote turbo oil pump from a rhino

I drained my 20/50 last night cold. I used the same exact pump that ralph has in the previous pic. My boat was sitting for a week though. Wasnt as bad as I thought but still took a little effort.
