I have only taken my boat to the lake the first year I had it and this year I would like to take it to the river. What kind of anchor do I need for the river also if I stay in Laughlin where is a good place to go on the river to have a good time and what should I watch out for??

I?ll second that about the jet skis and I have two. Just watch for them because they aren?t for you. If you have some one in the water, try and keep your boat between then and the person in the water. If your skier falls, safely get back to them as soon as you can. I would not anchor just in the water. You may look back and your boat is floating down the river. Never over night. One year some A-hole was going around and releasing boats and on down river they went. Yaa, (they) beat the living chit out of him but (they) still had to go and get there boats. I had a welder make a ?T? out of some 1? rebar with an eyelet. The down leg is 4 feet long and 2 ?  foot handle. I pound it in 3 feet about 10 feet onshore and tie off on it. The ?T? handle is to pull it out as I twist. I use a River Rock anchor with a heavy mud anchor chained behind it about 6 feet. Never use a clevis as the rocking will unscrew the bolt. Always have at least a 4 foot 1? chain between the anchor and your rope. The heaver the chain the better. One last thing, if you beach your boat below a dam overnight you may find it dry docked in the morning. They let less water out after about 3am and you?ll have to wait till noon before you will be able to move it. Just some suggestions. I like the River Lodge on the Ca. side, Parker Strip. Wild Thang

I have never used a box anchor. Maybe some one else has. This is my setup and always worked well on the river. I saw an oldtimer doing it back in the 80s. He would leave his boat in all night and it was still there the next morning. I put (A) behind (B) with a 6? chain. I just like the security of having both. Probably overkill but if one breaks loose the other will set. I always tie off on shore as a precaution. Blithe is a long way to pull an empty trailer.
