Just out of curiosity how long was it after the baby was born did you take him/her out to the river or on the boat ?

For the first 3 months of my daughters life the only time she left the house was for pictures at 3 days old then every month and for her doctors visits. The first time I took her in the pool she was 7 months and she's been to lake perris how ever we didnt put her in the water and she still hasn't been on the boat. Probably gonna wait till next season before taking her on the boat which she will be about 2 then, she's only 8 months old right now. If I had a deep draft boat that I didn't have to worry about sinking an rode nicer than a semi v low pro jet and was quieter she probably would of been on the boat already. But I'm a pretty over protective and cautious guy.

 I had both of my daughters out on our 22' cruiser since they were 3-4 months old.  Though with my previous low-profile boat, I wouldn't have done that.  It's how I justified (to the wife) a new bigger/deeper boat 22 years ago....

My mom waterskied when she was pregnant with me and Ive been going to the river since. My daughter was born in July, within a couple weeks that year she was in the boat. Same with my son. The river is the only place they wanna be!

its been 17 years and i cant remember but he was born in the winter so probably the following spring/summer.

babies are tough, its more of how much crap you have to take. its easier when theyre under a year, after that theyre walking, then you have to haul around playpens and stuff.

we had un-baffled headers for a long time (we used ear muffs) and my kids too would fall fast a sleep (maybe because we went to the lake while my wife was pregnant) BWT my son is 17 and still falls a sleep on the boat after launching and im not even out of the 5mph zone!!

thanks for all the replys. were actually leaving for the river tomorrow morning and I just wanted to know what to expect with the boat. shes a great baby and has been around loud cars ( Me and my family race drag cars ) and shes fine with that. I was just worried about the heat and the rough ride in the boat. my boat is only an 18ft and it gets bumpy but im hoping since its not a busy weekend we should be fine. Now should I get her a little infant life vest ? I had no clue that they made those but I guess they do

i may still have a life vest for a lil one i git for my exs daughter but she wouldnt go to the river with me anyway so its brand new if i didnt throw it away its yours

Bringing the nephew to the river on the 17th and he was just born the 5th of July, boat is a open bow with threw transom exhaust, lil man should be just fine.

Hopefully going out tomorrow with my 9 month old son on the weed wacker.....  He likes it so far except for the life jacket.  I feel for ya guys with the OT headers....  It can make it tough on deciding when how old is enough.  I think I was around 6yrs when I was introduced to that fun.....  Know I had to find a jet project so my son can hopefully experience the same fun...

In all seriousness, it is never too early to teach your kids to swim.  Even at 4-6 months, they can easily learn skills that may save their lives.  I almost lost my youngest at Havasu.  We had the boat beached all by ourselves in a cove out of Cattail.  I still don't know how he got in the water but I was walking in about 5 ft. of water around the stern of the boat and I see my son just "bicycling" away completely under water with about 18" of water both above and below him.  I think he was about 3 and a half.  I am sure that even 20 seconds later he would have drowned as he couldn't reach the surface or the bottom.  Momma and the older boy were both within 20 ft of us and never saw him go in the water and we never figured out how he got out that deep to start with.

I have really young parents.

When I was 18 months old, my dad bought a 18' Glencoe jet with an Oldsmobile Packajet in Metal Flake purple and white.... I would simply fall asleep in the back seat....  VVVVRRRRROOOMMM!!!

I have loved jets and the sound of a jet ever since then... We have had at least one jet boat in the family since then... Just for some stupid math, that was 44 years ago.
