for all the dads.... and MOMS sorry

Lol!!! No worries dude!!!  I know it's kinda rare to see or hear from a girl on here... Lol!!!  My husband and I are very good friends with Brad, so I like to watch the forums...  A lot of the guys on here crack me up! :)  plus we make all the meets... If you do too we will hafta introduce ourselves! :)

Oh!!  Yes on the infant life jacket!!! An absolute must!!! The infant ones have that pillow like pad on the back by their head.  It's kinda annoying for them, but it has something to do with how they would float if something were to happen.  I know people think it'll make them too hot with it on, but dipping them in the water keeps them cooled off.  We have always kept it on Siena at all times (I would just unzip it a little if she would fall asleep when she was a baby) and she has never complained about having to wear it to this day.  If you never take it off from the beginning, they learn that it's just part of the drill.  We have seen and heard about devastating occurrences involving young children and infants all because they had no jacket on... And more likely then not, the parents are only a few feet away....  Why would anyone want to take that chance?...

By the way... How'd your little one do out there this weekend?

Personal, my daughter was born in Oct and on the water the first summer; so 7 months.

My parents didn't start going to the lake until I was about two years old. But my mom was on the seadoo and lake 7 months pregnant. And all our family friends kids, along with my two bothers and sister where in the water by 3 months. Just as everyone else said, short amounts of time. Keep them out of the sun, when possible. And life vests are a most all the time. My daughter is 5 and she even enjoys playing on the beach with her vest on.

My Daughter has been going to the river since she was 3 months old. at first she hated the vest but loves the boat. The O'neil vest that i bought for her was too bulky and was kind of a piece o shit. An customer of mine who is an ex ski racer told me to buy the liquid force infant vest and the kit will love it. The liquid Force vest was the best purchase i made she loves it has bigger holes for there arms and very slim compared to most of the vest on the market. She loves the new vest and we have been to the river at least 10 times this summer and she turns 1 next month. When we are floating we take the vest off sometimes and let her walk around but its always on when we are cruising around.

Thank you guys for all the feedback. We just got back last night and she did pretty good. The first day she was a little grumpy from being too hot but on Sunday she spent the whole day on the boat with us. We didn't take her around in it cause we didn't have a vest or ear muffs but she fell asleep for most of the day in the boat. Monday we played a little at blue water and we went home. All in all she did as good or better then we expected. Thanks again for all your help. Heather77 we are gonna try to make at least one event before summer ends so hope to meet up with you guys. Along with everyone else on here. Quick olds it was nice meeting you and hanging out for a while. No worries on the vest Im gonna shop around for one today

My boy took his first boat ride at 3 months...it was an I/o, so not to loud...put the boy right to sleep.  Keep them in the shade, bring plenty of formula/juice/snacks, and dunk them in the water to cool off whenever you can. Get back to the a/c every now and again.  I brought a spray bottle with to mist the boy with while he was napping. Most of you met Kyle this weekend...he loves the river and loves being in the water.

Be halfway sensible and they'll be fine.

If you leave 'em out in the sun too long, they'll turn out like Ray

I'm know for many of us, our memory's of being on the water is exactly what we want our kids too have!
I know my daughter even loves to help clean it, not so much after but before we go out for sure. And I agree with the liquid force jackets, a little more expensive but they are worlds better and last longer.

Thanks carrera202. I'm hoping she will love it like I did growing up. She's still not really a fan of the heat. She did a lot better this past trip so hopefully she'll get used to it. It's amazing how I have only met two people on this site but everyone is willing to help and share stories. This is for sure the best site and filled with some good people. Thanks guys

Couldn't agree more that carerra202 lil girl was a trooper last weekend at the lake...  but watch out ... when she tells you to help her find rocks at the bottom of the lake u better make sure they match or she is gonna tell you " no good doesn't match "  she means business .. hahahah. Had a blast with carrerra202 and his buddies .. and when we were leaving his lil girl said daddy I don't wanna leave .. why are we leaving.. I wanna swim .... hahahah.  Thanks again carrera202...
