ok so with the price of gas so high and i really dont think it will be coming down that much! why not convert to propane. its got a higher octane rating than gas. most of the tanks we put in boats are round ??? anyone have any thoughts on this , or know of anyone that has done it????

Propane in a boat = bad idea..Especially from a high performance standpoint. LEHR has been successful in propane powered stuff on a relatively small scale and has won some awards for their innovations, but it is still a little green as far as retrofit. Propane is scary. ???

Besides, propane costs pretty much follow gas pricing anyways....Filled your BBQ lately?   :screwy:

E85 is about as close as you can get to a decent alternative fuel..Still has it's problems though..

Propane has about 21,600 BTU per pound (btu/lb.) while gasoline is at about 17,500 btu/lb., so it would be a little bit more efficient HP wise, but there are many things to take into consideration.

To put it into perspective, methanol has approx 11,000 btu/lb...I think we're going backwards.  :o

Same here, 13-17 depending on how I drive in the city>:D jdm wanna Be's are fun to mess with an on the highway best I got was 24 loaded with the quad and half cord of wood. But I fill up every 6-8 weeks so the initial hit really isn't that bad considering I get 1800 miles to every fill.

I have three 55 gallon drums of red diesel if things go really shitty.... ;D

I am wondering how many people are considering moving closer to work now....HMmmm :-\

I remember several years ago there were droves of people moving 20-30 miles south of here because their house was "cheap", I bet if you did the calculation under today's circumstances they are taking it in the butt on that cheap house... >:D

I paid a whole lot to be where I am, but I drive a company truck and my wife has two jobs and they are equal distances apart in different directions....Almost like I did it on purpose...

Hey mobboss, if you want to get some fuel efficiency on you boat, rip the jet out and go with a dual propeller set up....

Jet boats job; Sound bitchen, get mediocre performance and burn a buttload of fuel... ;D

Mine does all three perfectly. :screwy:
