Help I need a rear end guy

I know this has nothing to do with jet boats but I need some opinions my rear end, it took a s*** on me today and I don't know where to go, I don't know who to ask, I don't know what to do, but I'm trying to find parts to fix my Detroit Locker rear end. Thanks.

Ouch! Well I'd say you are going to have to pull it completely apart to find out where that little piece came from. Can't tell from the pics. The axle in the pic looks ok not twisted, what happened? ??

Nice sub I had a Tahoe same color!! With a silver bottom. Ok that rearend is dune!! Forget it . Those rearends hate lifts and big tires. What gearing do you have?? That will help. Can't remember the rearend you need it is an upgrade. Got it Chevy and gmc had a 3/4 2 wheel drive pickup that was only 6 lug!!! It is a direct replacement! They only came in 342 or 373 gearing . And there stronger than what was original. Was that rearend stock??

The rearend your looking for is the small 14 bolt. 6 lug.

Thanks. I think the gears are 456 I looked up the number and it's a Detroit Locker. I have been having bad luck with this suburban I have been through 3 transmissions and now a rear end in the last year. 😕

Dam that sucks!! Sorry, my tranny blew once!!! Right in front of My house, 6 quarts poured right out!!! Well here's the problem, that rear end is not stock. Someone had it built and changed gearing, which means you will have to find one used on like eBay or have your redone! There should be some used one's floating around try eBay or cl! I will keep my ears out for you!

You have the light-duty 8.5/8.6 10-bolt axle. I am sure that that differential is a Detroit Truetrac manufactured by Eaton and not a Detroit Locker.

Mobboss had the best idea of swapping in a Saginaw 9.5" "small 14-bolt" 6-lug axle. Look under '88 and up 1/2-ton extended-cab or extra-capacity trucks. Note that the u-joint will be different as well as the pinion will be longer, so you will need to measure for drive shaft length.

I doubt you will be able to find 4.56:1 gears in a wrecking yard, so you will also need the gears and an install kit. I strongly recommend a crush sleeve eliminator.

I had put a 14 bolt in my 1994 Z71 1/2 ton.

They make a conversion joint for the swap, my driveshaft was fine because I had a 4" lift on it.

Pretty easy swap really.

I should add, my truck had 340,000 miles on it when I sold it, original transmission, second engine. Used to put an 845 model Lance camper on it and tow the boat.

Not sure what you have going on.

My suburban tows almost every day, very heavy loads my suburban only has 170,000 miles on it now. Almost everything is new except for motor I just went through all the bushings, shocks, the whole front end been redone 3 transmissions and now a rear end, and axles. I guess this is what you get for a lifted suburban that tows a lot. Thank u everyone. I found parts and it's going to cost us under 500.00 for all, we just have to wait for them to come in. 😕
