Hey guys I need a little help on these driveshaft covers, I have seen them before, they can be polished aluminium or even plastic but they cover the ugly driveshaft and linkage between the pump and bellhousing. Plus they stop the little bit of excess grease that flings all over the place.

I have found on the Rex website http://www.rexmar.com/page126.html  (bottom of the page on the left side) and am ready to buy it but I can't figure out how it bolts up?

As I am sitting at my desk here at work I think I can picture some small bolt holes around the flange of my pump that may work but I am not sure, or is this thing supposed to mount to my bell housing???

Anyways, can you guys help me out? Show some pics of yours, or tell me where to get a "better" one tell me how they mount?

Nick you have to buy their bell housing that fits the cover.are you can drill some holes in the bell housing you have now and save some money. Easy fix.

Thanks for the advice guys, does anybody know of one that does not require me to pull my bell housing off or drill holes in it? Does anybody else run these things or is it just me? Seems like a good piece to have doesn't it?

I have a long drive shaft (20") and what I did was take a 5" ID (or something like it) Alum tube and sawed it lengthwise. I also had to notch the ends a little. But I was able to get it shaved down to where it would clamshell clamp itself on the pump housing flange and my farm-boy bell housing mount.

So I can take on/off without pulling ujoints or driveline. I then used two large hose clamps to secure it in place. I can take some pics if this concept helps you at all.

Yes, I think that containing shrapnel during a ujoint failure is nice insurance against sinking the boat. And, it keeps the occasional stray rope or beer can out of harm's way. I used 1/4" wall just to try and make it survive a ujoint failure and 20" floppy drive shaft beatdown.

The only pic I have is from the inside. I dont understand why u cant drill 4 holes in the bellhouseing cover and tap them out for some 1/4" bolts. Could be done without removing motor.
 Am I missing something, it wouldnt be the 1st time.

You will need to drill and tap the bell housing to bolt it up. Or you can go outside the box and go ghetto and rig it another way but drill and tap is the neat clean way and Yes they are good to have.

ok ok ok, I hear you guys loud and clear. I will get to work. You know I'll post pics when it's all done. I have added that case to the list of itmes needed from Rex. I swear everytime I turn around I am adding stuff to that damn list.
