How much do you think....
« on: September 16, 2008, 09:30:05 PM »
the fine will be for 74+ in a 65 zone while towing (max 55mph)  :banghead:

The nice officer noted that he was only going to write it up for 74+ because anything over that would not be acceptable for traffic school

What a nice guy  :screwy:

I can tell you that I JUST paid $464 for 67MPH towing the boat on the freeway by CHP  :banghead:

He said he would "let me off" for driving in the left lane too long after merging onto the freeway in that lane. :P

I think it may be "general speeding" anything below 20 over the posted highway limit.  Something like $120 speeding and $10/mph.  $260?

I think I would be happy with $260.  ;D

I'm afraid it's going to be $400-$500 range.  :banghead:

Anybody know where I can get another "sack"?  I don't think my wife is gonna give mine back anytime soon.  :'(

BTW, I sold a SBC intake manifold yesterday to help fund my latest investment loss.

Now I gotta start digging for more things to sell.

Fight it ....... I fight every ticket....... haven't paid for one in over ten years.
Get the ticket extended as many times as u can.... then on the last day, go and request a trial by declaration.
It's basically your version of what happened in writing.... the officer will also have to turn his story in in writing.
The logic behind this is that cops get paid to go to court but not to fill out paperwork..... at least not the same amount.
If the officer fails to turn in his declaration, you win by default.
If he does turn one in then both declarations are reviewed by a judge and a decision is made.
If the judge rules in favor of the officer..... it's still not over.
You have 10 or 15 days to request a "Trial de novo" which erases your guilty verdict and allows you one more chance to face the officer in court. By this time, the officer will have all but forgotten who you are or what you even looked like. Also, CHP officers get transferred alot to different locations so there's a good chance that they might not show up anyway.
The last time I did this I got the speeding ticket in March and didn;t walk into a courtroom until November. The cop never showed so I won by default....... gimme back my $351.00 please
I learned about this on www.ticketassassin.com
Having a coomercial license in California means that I am not allwed to go to traffic school so I fight every ticket every time!!

Good Luck!
Danny

I got a ticket for towing at 70 many years ago going to Blythe.  I dont remember the amount of the fine.  The officer didnt like it when he told me you arent supposed to tow at 70. I politely said, "theres a trailer back there."  He didnt think it was funny.

that sucks you know paying for a ticket...i got an attorney in vegas that takes care of all tickets...he wants your services for larger problems so he does tickets for free...he sends me about 20 cards every six months...last ticket i got was for 84 in a 45...he got it reduced to a parking ticket no point or anything it cost me 140...the ticket itself was like 600 hundred or so...i would say a good find on my part

Call myself Lucky.
I got a Ticket towing the boat up the hill into SearchLight.
Was doing at least 10 to 15 over.
Well the cop was such a Pal. He only wrote me up for 5 over.  ;D
Then he wrote me two tickets for expired registration on my trailer.
Girl at the courthouse called the cop a Moron.

At least the speeding ticket is only 67 Dollars..  And boat registration is only 40 bucks. Yes very lucky..

Best speeding story ever, going to the races, left after work, towing a boat that we thrashed on all night the night before, so pretty tired, 1972 K5 4X4 CST Blazer with a 1992 Tuned Port 350 and an automatic, was going through Humbolt co. on 101 at about 11PM, doing about 85 MPH, (was making killer time) rear view mirror full of colored lights, oh well, I deserved it right?, so the CHP gets to my door and says, with a straight face, what in the hell do you have in this thing?, I have been trying to catch you for 10 min., so I told him it was a stock 350 from a late Vette, he just smile and askes to take a look, so of course the hood went up and he looked with his Rodney King flashlight, he was so impressed he told me to keep it at 55, and good luck at the races....Sweet! That dude could have impounded my truck sent me to jail.

Lucked out...

Had a similar experience once when I was in the Air Force. Doing a late night shake down run on a desert road in my 70 Nova LS6 454 motor, auto trans, & 2.73 gears. Estimated top speed was like 160. I'm haulin and then turn and head back. I see this sheriff's car with lights pass me head on. I know he's after me when I see his brake lights so I just pull over and wait for him. He finally pulls back checks me out and sees the military id next to driver's license and gives me a lecture about speeding then starts asking me all kinds of questions about my car. I pop the hood etc. He let me go with a warning. He could believe that pos could go that fast.  :sly:

My buddy got popped by CHP last tuesday night. We were carpooling home from work (four big dudes in a little Suzuki swift lol) he was driving for the owner of the car because that dude was sick (cold) so we're going along and my buddy says oh sh## he was tired (and used to a car with cruise control) and didn't realize he was doing 85 in 70 zone. The officer comes up gets all his info asks us which prison we work at (we're all in our uniforms) so we're thinking he might get a break then while the officer is back running the info my buddy mentions the officer's name and I said Oh Sh## that's the same prick who wrote me up for 73 in a 70 four years ago!!! so I tell my buddy he's screwed. Sure enough the chipper gave him a ticket. He did give him a break in a way, he wrote him for 75 instead of 85.
