I found a job - Winterizing a 460

Well after 6 months I finally got a job offer ;D  in Susanville, CA  :o

Can someone sow me a picture of the place on the 460 block that I need to open to drain the water out please.  Also any details on getting anti-freeze in all the right places like header lines and jet.

I guess its time to go buy some real winter clothes as San Diego for 10 years has me a bit spoiled :banghead:

Susanville is a nice area , re the block plugs they are in the block skirt just above the pan rail they may be plugs with hex heads or petcocks (the motor in the pics is upside down) Tom

I am confused from this picture, I see 4 threaded holes which I thought were engine mount holes and the freeze plugs.  Am I blind stupid or both?   :banghead:

Up is up in this picture. This is the left side rear. It's the little brass threaded plug to the right.

Awesome!  Thanks.  After I get the water out, do I just funnel antifreeze back in?  Remove the ball in the t-valve for the header lines?  Should I let some pour thru the jet?  I read about changing the oil in the jet on a different thread so that is covered.

I was only able to get water to come out of one side, is this OK?  I had to do a bit of digging to get thru what felt like metal to open up the starter side.  Do both sides drain, should I put a drill bit on the side that didnt drain?  Sorry for all the questions but I don't want the block to crack in the sub zero temps I am moving to.

Susanville has never had a sub zero day.  Freezing yes, snow yes, sub zero never.   Relax you will love it up there.  God's country.

I'm not that familiar with Ford, however I would poke around in each of the drains with toothpick or small rod or small drill bit to get any sand out of the way, for all the water to drain.

I was offered a Senior Personnel Specialist position at CCC.  I can't wait to live in "Prison Town, USA"  Guess I wont need to watch the documentary PBS made :)  Even though it's a personnel job I am glad I got min security vs level 4 max

The town was nice, is was cold in the night/mornings as expected in the High Desert, 29* F.  Looks like there will be plenty of outdoor things to do.  We saw these everywhere, yards, middle of the street, some even had a bunch of points on their heads >:D
