Hey SuperDuty--looks like we're nearly neighbors. Where do you usually boat, Bass Lake? Millerton?

Golden Eagle is the same as the Jacuzzi YJ so it depends on the size of the hull. If it is an 18' "jet boat" hull, you'll never be happy with the performance because the pump just won't push it more than about 55-60 MPH no matter how much HP you have. If the hull is a big cruiser and you're happy with 50-55 MPH it would probably be OK, if it's a real good deal, although most on here would say to stay away from that pump.

Unless it is a real "steal", I'd probably pass on the boat. Even if you think you'd be happy with 60 MPH, and I've heard a number of new jetters say the same thing, sooner or later you'll want to go faster (trust me), and with that Golden Eagle you'll have no options. There are so many good deals out there right now, if I were you, I'd watch for something with a more desirable pump--berkeley, dominator, even a jucuzzi WJ. Better for performance and better for resale value.

I hear you about the prop and stuff hanging under the v-drive boats. I'm thinking about selling my v-drive cruiser and getting back to a jet, mainly for just that reason. And, yes, Shaver is a great lake--especially during the week. We have a little cabin up there and spend alot of time up out of the valley heat. Give me a call when you're going up--maybe we could get together.
