Check this out!

Started the new job on August the third, it's awsome, great bunch of guys, very low stress, plenty of work to do...Life is good.

Get a call from the wife today, she tells me "well I was driving and was listening to the radio and this contest came on and they were looking for caller 20".....Immediately I'm thinking one of two things. One, she was on the phone not concentrating and just totalled out here third car

Or, she got popped for driving without a hands free kit and have to pay $170 for a frikken ticket.

As pessimistic as that may sound, neither are to far from plausible...

Turns out she won a family four pack of three day all inclusive Indy car tickets for Infineon Raceway in Sonoma next weekend.....Sweeeeeeet!

Never gonna happen, she was the main reason I did not make Long beach or Burley (spending addiction).

I think she feels like she owes me a solid......Otherwise she would not have called to try and win the tickets (her words, not mine).

You should know that she wins on the radio contests a couple of times a year....

She has won; "Yes" concert tickets, Genesis concert tickets, Simon and Garfunkel tickets, she entered me in a drawing for throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at a San Francisco Giants home game, and I won, endless movie passes, San Jose Sharks tickets, Dave and Busters dinner and endless games, George Thurogood tickets, among others I'm sure........

On a down note, the cat that I picked up from the animal shelter when I moved out of the house 20 years ago is having health issues and I have to go down to the vets and have her put down....This cat has literally slept next to me every night for the last 20 years, tomorrow is going to suck.....

Like I said, life is funny $:-\$

This is Velcro, I got her in 1990 right after meeting my now wife and just after moving out of my parents house. My wife and I named her Velcro because her fron claws would not totally retract and were huge, so she made a ripping sound while walking on carpet and tapped when walking on the hardwood floors...

This picture was taken two years ago when I took her with me to our house at Lake Tahoe, she thought that was too cool....

Sorry for the sappieness, this was the coolest cat ever, my dad even liked her and he hates cats.

I know this is a dumb azz thing to admit, but I have that pet 10 commandments thing on my refrigerator, been there for years

My wife listens to KFOX all of the time and yes....Thanks KFOX

I really think she is one of the luckiest peole around....About the only thing I have ever won is a speeding ticket...

One of the tickets we got when me and some buddies were street racing, in the "conditions" area the cop wrote "cool, clear, dry" and my buddy yells out "Good for racing!", yeah go team go, that helped

BTW, my cat is in heaven...gonna miss her like crazy....

and yeah Chili, she was in my lap and I talked to her as much as I was able.

Well, the races were awsome, weather was dead on perfect, just about the time you were getting too hot, the Sonoma breeze would kick off and allow you to enjoy a tastey adult beverage in comfort....

The races were for the most part a little boring (one leader all day

), but the drifting was fun to watch as were a lot of the people (apparently mirror sales have dropped off in this economy

).

Anyway, the job could not be any better, makes me feel a little silly for not making a change earlier, but I guess now I can appreciate it more. $:-\$

Just need to work a little harder to find some "me time" around the huge work load and late hours...Oh well, winter is coming and it will be a wet one given the news of an el Nino this year...lets get those reserviors filled up for cryingg out loud.....

OK, Now I know we're being messed with.....

So for the last few months, my wifeepoo has been having some semi minor back pain in the lower back...got worse and worse...Her doc is a certified dipshit and sends her for some PT (physical therapy) WRONG!!!!!!

So she goes to my doctor, gets some tests done...MRI, XRays and so on, goes to the consultation today...guess what? major slipped disc with severe herniation!!!WTF???

Goes to surgery on Wednesday otherwise risk paralyzation...Didn't see that coming, guess the little blonde is pretty tough

So I guess if it wasn't for bad luck, we would be unlucky

It could have been real bad had I not urged her to see my doc....This holiday season is coming together nicely

Just one more thing to add to the list...Is anyone else having a crazy azz year?...Just me?

Keep her in your thoughts if you would.....

Good luck to you and your wife. I'm sure you've been picking up the slack around the house as it is. Lower back has a bit of a recovery time, dont let her try to recover to quickly.
My wife has had 3 upper back surgeries and probably going in for #4 after Thanksgiving. I know first hand of the work it takes to care of the wife, kids and the house.

Thanks guys, I hate medical crap, too many variables and quacks...

The recovery time is going to be rough for sure, I'm told over two months

On the brighter side, It isn't spring and she'll be good as gold soon...

Over summer i went to san fran to a the outlands festival.She won the tix on the radio,free hotel,bus ride(everyone was getting fock up on that thing)and 3 day concert tix.It was nice,I have never been there before.One bad thing is some radio stations will only let you win every 90 days

Well, forgot to update the thread...

Wifee poo is home and doing well

Thanks in no small part to all your positive reinforcement.

The crazy part is she says with the exception of the actual area of the surgery, she feels a lot better and has the feeling back in both legs...Just crazy.

As a person that is paid to come up with ways and methods to "fix stuff", medicine is amazing.

Sure felt weird coming home without her, and glad to have her back home

Thank everyone for the well wishes. It helped a lot.

I'm going to go check the eyelids for pinholes and cracks

Glad to hear the surgery went well. It's amazing what they are doing now. Taking the pressure off of those nerves is like fixing some crazy shorts in a wireing loom. That good news, hope the recovery goes just as well.

Good to hear that the surgery went well. I got a herniated disc in low back and live with constant pain (partly because it's not severe enough to warrant surgery and partly because I'm scared of having to quit my career). The pain is mostly tolerable (I've learned to block it out mostly) and I take an anti-inflamatory med every other day or so (daily during flare ups). Heres to a speedy recovery!!!
