Good news is your still here to be a dad and a husband!! Cardiology has come an awful long way in the last 20 years. I'm guessing since It's been several hours since you got to the hospital and you're posting here, they're not doing a by-pass. Have they done a Angioplasty yet?
Heart disease runs in my family as well. Like others have said, sometimes you're just born with it. My brother will be celebrating his 2nd year since his 5 artery by pass in June, and no one could believe it happened to him, even the doctors said they were stunned because he appeared very healthy. Life style change is the way to minimize future events, but that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy your life. I am now on Lipitor and aspirin just as precaution, and I try to eat better, and exercise. This is probably a good thing. Look at this as a good day. You've found out you have an issue and you get the opportunity to deal with it. As others have stated, a lot of people don't get that chance. Best of luck to you and your future!!!
