Locking keys in the car!
« on: November 19, 2010, 10:35:51 AM »
This is the funniest story on this I have ever witnessed! I'm posting it here instead of FB so she don't see it, and I don't get my ass kicked.....I think......

Yesterday, my GF Carol came down from Chandler to pick up Becca for a Girls night to go see the new Harry Potter movie. I'm about 10 minutes from the house when she calls and says she locked her keys in her car in front of my house! We've all done it, no biggie, so I let her know I'm prolly 5-10 minutes away.

I get there, and so as to not look helplss, she has my phone book out looking up locksmiths. She had called two of them, both in Florence which is at least a half hour away and would be a few hours before they could get there, the girls are freaking they're gonna miss the special pre-viewing of the movie, etc etc. I was like relax, call them back and cancel. I called on Juan, the guy a neighbor recommended a couple years ago when I did this myself......twice.......in my own driveway, lol.

Juan is licensed and bonded and has his own company here in Casa. I wish Ida taken pictures of all this. Juan says "oh, yeah, the boat guy, I'll be there in about 10 minutes" . Girls are thrilled! This is where it gets funny......I shoulda just sat back with a 12 pack and a camera........... seriously.

Juan pulls up in his, well, much more beaten up Chevy Pickup than I last remember seeing it.  And back THEN it looked like it had hit everything in Casa at least once. He rolls up, almost hitting MY truck, jumps outta his truck, smoke rolling with him, in a wife-beater and says Hey! to me from across his truck bed. Carol turns to me, and I see this woman with baseball sized eyes glaring at me and all she says, VERY sternly, is "Really!?!?" She is NOT impressed, lol.

Juan walks around the minivan and tells me "I hate these newer Toyota's" then gets his tools and starts prying open the window seals and installing teflon wedges in there. She kinda freaks, "Are you gonna scratch up my door and stuff?" he's like "no lady, it'll be fine"  He finally gets his hook onto the mechanism in the door and asks her, not me, to grab the door handle. He says to her, very clearly, I heard it, "now when I say go, pull the handle. The car will lock itself back up and set off the alarm in less than a second and we won't get a second chance at it". She says she understands. She grabs the handle, Juan yells "ir", she lets go, looks at him and says "what?". Car alarm goes off, Juan's a lil pissed, I'm already laughing, She's ready to strangle us both. This just started to piss off a sub 5' German girl, lol. He says "I said pull the handle the second I said go!" she says "you didn't say go! you said ear!" So while they're arguing, Im laughing like a hyena, the alarm is going nuts. A few neighbors were coming and going and Carol notices the people looking at us suspiciously. Juan tells her "Just smile and wave.........that way they don't call the cops." I get the first turn and glare.......Time for a beer thinks I........When I returned, they're still arguing over who screwed up, but smiling and waving as cars came by, alarm blarring. I'm still laughing, cant help it.

At this point, she turns and glares at me again like I had just rented her out for the evening........I can take a hint, so I did what any responsible BF would do......I downed the beer and I went back inside and got another beer and a lawn chair.......... They tried that once more, almost the same result, and yeah, the arguing got hotter and even more entertaining. Finally, Juan grabbed a few more wedges and simply pryed out the door at the window frame, and worked the lock button with a 4 guage ground wire. Car open, we're good. she hands him her credit card.........I went for another beer as this part I knew was gonna be good......"no credit cards, cash or check" She's really pissed by this point......Fortunately, I had my checkbook on me, kind of expected it, and made him out a check plus a tip for the entertainment value! He says to me as he's leaving, "Call me anytme, bro, but if SHE locks her keys in again, call a priest".......

I'm still dealing with the aftermath, and she is really pissed because I called everyone and told them the story , but sorry, was the funniest thing!

They did get to see the new Harry Potter movie after all!

LOL! Funny stuff Marc!

Yeah, I got something Harry! She's seeing how funny it was now. I never knew she was German before this, or that she had that temper and it kindof explains a LOT!

Musta been that Hitler locked his keys in his car once and the poor Jewish locksmith that came didn't know what he was starting up......

Yeah, that comment got me into trouble too........ ;D

Locked myself out of my Bronco with it running at the Carl's Jr. in Blythe.   AAA dude shows up with a bunch of dental tools and goes in thru the wind wing.  It took him 4 tools and 3 hands but he was inside in about 15 seconds.   109 outside but the A/C had been on so it was nice and chilly inside.   Come to think of it the wife and kids were pretty chilly towards me for a while too LOL.
Had to break another wind wing once to get into my truck at Elsinore.  Didn't have many options if I wanted to get home.  Had NO friggin' idea that that small piece of glass would shatter into soooo many pieces!   Big PITA to clean up.

Learned my lesson 13 years ago. Pulled into the gas station to put air in a tire. Put the air in and went to get back in the car and the door auto locked. Left the car running because my 2 year old daughter was in the car, cold outside so I wanted to leave the heat on.

Didnt even hesitate to break out the wing window, Was a $150 lesson. Now I NEVER leave the car running without rolling down the window first.
