LS style logs

Does any one else make log style manifolds for a LS engine besides Cassell (spelling).

I think we are talkin LS1 and LS2, right? different animal...I need to check with a bud of mine, he plans on running an LS in his new riverboat.

Yes LS1, LS2, and LS6 are cathedrel intake ports. LS3, LS7, LS9 and l92 are all rectangular intake ports. The exhaust are close but I can Make the LS1 style logs fit my LS3 heads with a little welding and porting. The exhaust ports are raised up quite a bit compared to the older LS1 stuff. I know I shouldn't be using logs but they will work good with my application. ;D Thanks Brian.

Sounds like a killer project there! gathered up some stuff for an LS7 build awhile back. Need a set of Blower pistons for it?  O0

No Josh, all the "late" model LS engines have port layouts like the BBC instead of the traditional SBC.

Why they didn't use a different designation than LS, I'll never understand. An LS7, to me, is the HP 454 engine used in 70-71 Chevelles and Corvettes. Now it's a 427 Cu. In. small block, while more powerful, shares NOTHING with it's namesake or any other small block in Chevy's past. And we thought Ford engines were confusing?? :screwy:

actually the LS6 was the former 455 pony 454 used in chevelles and vettes "i guess"...however the c5 corvette z06 motor that was a 5.7 was called the ls6 motor as well...the ls7 being the all alum hand built 500 pony 427 cube sbc....but as far as the exhaust ports being different you learn something new everyday....i thought it was just intake as i explained previously...beaver? do you really half to run a log exhaust...im just thinking out loud wondering if it would be easier to find some mid risers or something rather, and more performance worthy...

A friend of mine did custom headers for a el camino project they were doing with a LS2 and they ended up modifieng a set of small block ford headers cause the port spacing was the same.

The bore spacing on a LS is 4.400 and on a small ford is 4.380 so I can see that working. My buddy has 2 460" LS7's in his boat and has like $6,000 in custom water cooled headers! But it's well over 100k boat. I'm a poor boy from detroit that can weld/fab and make shit work. My shit box will never see $2,500-3,000 exhaust. Nordie I have a water cooled 85mm turbo getting built as we speak so the logs will be fine. Everything is going under a engine cover and wanted logs for ease of fab time and space savings. I am going to build a water jacketed y pipe to go from the logs to the turbo.

These aren't logs, but they are a lot cheaper than the Cassells......and last time I looked were $250 a piece.
