any one have one? any thoughts i was thinking about gettting one

Lunati makes a good camshaft. I know quite a few people running them in both hot rods and boats. I'm a fan of Clay Smith cams, but that's just my personal preference.

what makes your prefer the clay smith cams over all the other one?

It's just a presonal preference. What really matters is being able to understand ALL the specs of the cam for the intended application. You have to realistically introduce your true RPM Useage, and compression ratio, and intended induction, THAT is where the quagmire lay. One cam is not necissarily made better than another............I personally prefer Howards Cams or Comp Cams, for example. But it all comes down to componentry, what RPM you intend to run, what C/R you have and what induction you intend to run............
Isky is a very good name, but like an old retired person.......it all depends on depends............... ;D

You would probably have to meet the guy to understand. He was a old boat racer and knows what woks in boats and what dosent all from personal experience!

Well if he wasn't so far away i would want to be able to get the chance and pick at his brain with a bunch of questions maybe one day haha

We're taliking an off shelf cam, I think. Granted, Ed's company can make something truly special! But off the shelf? Depending on what you want, I think you can find something off the shelf..........say a Comp Xtreme Marine...........

Clay Smith Cams has been around the game for a loooooooooooong time. Stregal knows his shit, the billets they use for their cams is a way higher grade than any other cam mfgr out there. You can call him, tell him what engine you have, your impeller cut, your boat & what you do with it, and he'll build your cam to suit your needs.

Well i know a 460 already has some really good bottom end so its good for pulling skiers.. and what not but i want a cam thats going to give it more to it
-
I have a Voodoo cam in my Sanger (460) that I ordered from Summit. I ordered the bigger cam of the two that they offer and it doesnt sem much bigger than the factory one that was in it. But if you are lookinf for a good all around cam it is worth it.

after a long discussion with Paul Kane (Lakes Only)for my 460 build I used a specialty grind from Comp Cams 34-244-4

Well, Giggiddy giggiddy goo...
WTF does THAT mean?
Ray

It is a quote from Family Guy an animated TV show with a character named Quagmire his famous line is gigity gigity......
-
Just the cam (11602)
-
i have had great luck with crower cams! and when you buy a cam you should always buy there lifters! or make sure the lifters are going to be compatible with the cam you do choose!
-
well thanks for all the oppinions i think i am going to go with a crane cam... what do you guys think about adjustable rocker arms are they worth it?
-
you mean roller or non roller??? cause all rockers are adj. there are several to choose from. it really depends on well hell a lot. whos building the engine?????
-
i built the engine and these rocker arms that came with the heads are non adjustable
-
well in that case yes you will want adj rockers.
-
so its worth spending the money? what advantages come with it
-
ok well how much??? well look changing the cam your changing the amount of lift. and if there is adj to make it easier with the rocker arms, unless the push rods are adjustable??? if it were me and you were trying to build a performance motor then i would change to aluminum roller rockers less resistance means more power smoother running in the world of motors it all the little things you can do to make it better!!!

I ran into this situation on a genV bbc, "trusting" the machinist on the non adj valve train, .575" lift. First it bent one intake push rod, Sucked in water into the cyl., milkshaked the oil,, spun # 5-6 rod bearings, and chewed the shit out of the crank. All this on a motor that had 2 hrs on it. Cost well over $1500 to patch/fix it, including an other set of heads, pushrods (3/8ths) guideplates, roller rockers, rings, bearings, etc.
Lakes only would be a good source for that 460 info.
As far as a cam, i wouldn't put anything other than a roller in with todays oils.
Just my .02

Mash on it

x2 on lakes only Paul is a great source for Ford 460 info I would talk to him before you decide anything could save you alot of money and grief
