Thinkin for the kickoff trip I'm gonna rent me a slip in the marina. I lengthened my stay yesterday since I don't have work in my way at the moment. I think it'd be convenient for goin back to the room, eating or whatnot. I don't really like the idea of letting it float overnight unattended but just for day use.
My question: what do you guys use to tie up? I'm thinkin four bungee type ropes to suspend it between the docks. I always find a way not to dock so I don't ding anything. The fenders I have that hang over the sides don't look like they would protect fully...

yo bj,
i have used the marina several times and leaving it in over night is super convenient.
There are absolutly so wakes or anything and you dont need to worry about the boat banging around.
You will be able to see your boat from your room so i would say launch it and pull it out after the weekend.
you will love it, you just need a couple bouys and ropes.

A friend of mine let his float over night and in the morning his tunnel ram and carbs were gone when they found his boat down river

Plus I like to see how many beers I can drink while wiping and waxing down while wife goes to the room to shower. That way I'm all shitty to stagger someplace to dinner.
But I think it would be convenient for the daily thing with a female on board. I can stay on the water or on a beach for 10-12 hours at a time..
Overnight does sound convenient and I have a newly installed 1200 gph bilge activated by either the switch or the float switch wired to straight to battery just for that purpose, but probably give the wife practice at backing down the ramp on a non crowded weekend and put it on and take it off the water each day.

But what do you fellas use to tie up to a dock or park in a slip? Do you tie up on one side? Suspend it in the middle and jump to the dock?
Looking at the fenders that came with mine, they look unused and the boat only has one little whiskey ding on the rub rail.. almost like he docked it once or twice.
The rear pop up cleat is in a good spot but the boat gets wider between there and where I can loop it on the bow rail. I haven't yet found any decent suction cups that I can rig on.. I don't plan on using a dock all the time but I'd like to have a little system to it in the event.
Anyone try using suction cups with rope and fenders? Wonder if it would fall off in the heat and leave it to get dock rash..

ugghhhh i have nightmares on leaving my dana out in parker overnight... I was staying at a friends place that had a dock in a little community and i left it out overnight.. Woke up to a call from the neighbors asking if they had friends over wtih a jet boat.. MY friends replied yes why? " well its underwater "... Yup just the bow sticking up. jet was resting on the bottom of the channel.. LAST TIME i ever leave my boat out over night.. But thats just me!!! I think i had a small leak lol..

regardless of small leak or some douche messing with a plug the bilge pump will only run for so long. figure a couple hours and it'll be underwater anyways.

i think it would be easier to steal carbs and a tram in the parking lot.
just sayin i never had a prob.

I've never had a problem. To answer your question I had a hook for the bow eye and a loop that went on the ski tow. Centered in the slip and stepped in. Go to west marine or wherever, get some nylon rope, make one for the bow, one for the stern and call it done.

Backed my boat in that ramp, the ole lady pulled then pin and a wake barge rolled by put the boat right into the back of the truck, first time in the water on new paint job plus dents and scratches on my bumper and tailgate.

West marine is your friend... They'll make ropes and have some little attachments that work really good for bumpers. And we've docked out boats for as long as I can remember, never had a problem other than maybe bird shit off the cover or swim steps. Easiest way to figure out what you need is to test it, all docks are different so it's hard to say that one way will work all the time.

blue water is two boats per slip so you will have to tie up to the dock, unless they changed it
