Name that hull!

I'm looking at a boat Wednesday,  but the seller doesn't know the builder. Looking like Ultra or PC to me..... what do you think?

Not a lot to show yet, trying to get an idea what it is before I inspect and make an offer. Been sitting for a couple years, but from what I can see has been set back with shoe and ride plate. Be interesting to find out why it's wedged down.  :sly: Don't have the HIN yet, but guessing mid 80's from the cool colors  O0 Just looking for a little go fast boat to counteract driving a 21 cruiser all the time

Depends on the weight and what You want to do with it. I've ridden in a few gen 2's and they ride great. Shut down in those things are great from what I've been told. 6 or 7 hundred hp would be a fun river hot rod.

I've been looking for a tunnel to throw the 545 in and jack up the hp a bit, but it (supposedly) has a recently freshened up 454. Not a Chevy guy, but hate to just toss it and re-rig for the BBF.
Just looking for something to take out on the river on Sunday afternoon to play with the v-drives the other geriatrics run around sunset.

Motor placement would be about the same as far as rigging. You would just have to make new motor plates for a bbf.

Place Crafts tend to run wet in center sponson, even though the outer sponsors are running dry.  With the right setback, keel, and hardware, they load the pump hard.  It could be setup to load hard and generate lift.

So after doing some searching, it looks like the first PC's had the "TD" style pod and newer versions have the mild raised flat for the TA. Doesn't matter much for what I want to do, though as I won't be racing it, just playing with it on my stretch of river. Manners are more important than top speed for me, though I can see a splash shield would be in it's immediate future.

Finally looked at it today and it was kind of what I expected. I decoded the HIN and it turns out to be a 1991 Canyon. It has balsa floors and appears to be a fairly heavy layup with solid stringers, but will need new seat wood on the passenger side. Shoe, ride plate, manual diverter, no chips or scratches in the gel, just a minor stress crack on the deck. Gonna take a ton of wetsanding and buffing to bring it back, but will make a fun little boat.

Coming home this Saturday. Only a 25 mile tow, but it has some REALLY sketchy tires, so it's surface streets the whole way.
