Need advice/help with mounting my Bimini top!
« on: August 06, 2012, 08:02:46 PM »
So I just bought the boat about a month ago and took it out and realized I needed my bimini up!
The guy never mounted it after the boat was painted and I am a little nervous on doing it myself as this is my first time on this type of thing. Any advice or help?

There might already be holes that were drilled before. Prolly filled in with the paint job tho. You can try to feel under deck where the holes are, and may get lucky. You are looking for most likely six holes on each side, 2 forward, 2 middle, and 2 aft. If not that lucky then you will need a couple of helpers to hold up the bimini and open it up, and mark and drill the holes. Not hard really

A good mounting area is about where the head rest or back/middle of front two seats are. The straps can be mounted parallel to the bimini poles while its in the open position. If your able to reuse the original holes that would be good.

one thing to think about when positioning your bimini is where is it going to sit when its down?  i mounted mine so when its down its resting on my thermostat housing of the engine and i put a little snap/strap there so it doesnt go flying around when im towing or driving around when i want it down and its out of the way.  the last thing you want is it sitting on the scoop or in the way of seating.

i also opted out for the provided "stainless wood screws" and went with a small stainless bolt with a large washer on the inside.  just felt more secure.

Mount it where it covers the seating area evenly, then double hung it to set where you want when its down

Looks like yours in on backwards...the straight end is usually the back row bar as to lay it flat down when in tow/not in use. I also have a double mount for in tow. You can see the parallel strap to pole and second mount for tow in front of rear strap...

Here are some more pics bud. Mine sits on top of the back seat when folded down. A bit too far forward when up but I don't mind at all. Good luck with the top.  ;D  First pic is in the early morning so that's why it doesn't look like it's doing anything.  :screwy:
