Need Feedback
« on: September 28, 2012, 09:27:00 AM »
Hi !    I need some feedback from the boating world.

I have a 1974 Glencoe Jet with a 455 Olds with a Hardin Marine package and Jacuzzi pump.    It is trailered on the original Donnell tandem axle trailer it came on when it was built.     It is in sad shape.  I had the engine rebuilt in 1999 and it has set for years at a time since then.   The gel coat on the original metal flake is gone on the surfaces that get direct sun.  The upholestry all needs to be rebuilt.   I planned for years to put it into top shape but I will not get to do it.    I am interested in hearing if this boat holds any value to anyone out there.   Either as a boat to rebuild or just the trailer or the engine and pump.    I am a long way from CA,  I live in TX.

I would be grateful for any and all suggestions as to if it is likely to be worth anything to anyone.

Sounds to me like your best bet is to part it out.  Put up pics on the different sights and see if you can get anything for the parts because as a package is doesn't sound like much.

You have to decide what it's worth to you. If the boat has sentimental value (such as it was your family's boat etc.) then it might be worth it to you to restore it. If it doesn't, then you'd probably make more money parting it out especially with the boat market being what it is and this late in boating season. Good luck with your decision.
