Need Navigation System advice
« on: December 10, 2008, 10:35:46 PM »
Looking to buy a Nav system for the car.   Any input or experiences you might have would be helpful.  My priorities are in order from Hi to Low --
1. Not expensive
2. Easy for the wife to use
3. Easy to move from car to car
4. Did I mention easy for the wife to use?
5. Bells and whistles probably not necessary

Assume I know nothing about them and don't really want to cuz I don't seem to have a problem getting lost like some members of my family.  :banghead:

I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 200W two years ago from www.tigergps.com and have good results.  I just took a quick look and it looks like the they have up-dated to a 205W or 255W (W being wide screen).

Good luck

My son has a TomTom and he has had great luck with it; one of the features he like is that it tells you what street you are on - the Garmin does not. I have three Garmins and they work great except for the Bluetooth feature - it sucks, so do not pay the extra bucks. The Garmin allows you to have different voices - I use the bithcy female voice (seems normal) and my uses the Ausi male voice (something to do with thunder down under). The Garmin can be upgraded via your computer; I am not sure about the Tom Tom, but I think it is the same. Happy hunting!
