Can anybody recommend an outfit who can fabricate AND upholster new (traditional) seating for my 19' Elim bbldeck restoration? See pic. Existing upper right. I want the seating config as shown in the example lower right. Is marine plywood still the way to go? If a
nyone has plans for that lower right configuration, i have a jigsaw.
I live in Carlsbad but will tow it.

P.S. i have a guy (Eric) in Havasu who will do it but Im wondering if there is anyone closer.

I would think most marine interior places can make what you want. I would just make sure that they do quality work. I hate seeing loose or wrinkled upholstery in seats.
Did your guy Eric have a shop called A-1 in Upland. That is who did my seats. Quality work but ?2weeks? turned into 3 months, which was ok for me. But, I had to clean fiberglass and sawdust off my engine and he replaced the shifter knob that stray dogs chewed up. But super nice guy and top notch work.
He had a guy working with him that took over the shop. Hopefully, still puts out good work done right.
Another shop that seems to do good work around here is So Cal marine interiors in Montclair.
As far as the plywood, I think shops coat the wood with resin to help waterproof it.
One tip I learned talking to different shops while getting estimates, make sure the wood has a routered edge so it doesn?t cut into the upholstery. Not all the shops I talked to did that.
That is a great looking boat. What colors were you thinking of doing?

Thank you TrailerDave. You've given me some good advise as to some things of which I should be careful. Yes I bekieve we sre speaking of the same Eric. My cousin in Glendora said he was nearby there and gave me Eric's number. I was surprised when Eric told me he was in Havasu now. He can take me in 3-4 weeks. I will cover my engine and shift knob per your warning! Thanks for the compliment. Since Ive discovered that what I assume is the original silver and black metal flake/gelcoat has rubbed out so nicely and looks nearly brand new I think the only color for the seats will need to be a very light grey and maybe black rope. That would look classy (wait. A 70's jetboat and "classy" is a major oxymoron). Maybe a splash of blue.
Based on your name alone do you do any trailer modification? I would like a "V" bunker at the bow position on the trailer so i can just drive it right on the trailer in the water...and not overshoot it.

That was my first thought was a light grey with some black and blue mixed in somehow. Should look great.
Eric really did a great job. The cushions fit snug, The upholstery is tight, the seams are straight. I?ve some guys that just got new interior and it?s looks terrible.
Instead of the ?rope/piping? around the edges, he did what he called a baseball stitch to give it a bit more of a cleaner modern look. I?ll try to post some pics by the end of the week
The name is TrollerDave. I don?t do anything with trailers but tow them. Any weld/fabrication shop can take care of that. If you look online for trailer parts, you might find something you can bolt on.

Just good for thought, what you?re looking for are called cocktail seats and typically built with plywood. However you can get fiberglass seat shells made not sure if they can do cocktails like this. But the rear bench and two front seats upholstered were about 2500 (few years ago now can?t remember exactly) and will last a lot longer than wood.

So, you can see there mesh on the bottom of the cushions and these plastic blocks. I think the blocks are to keep the cushion from sliding out. But they fit so snug it hasn?t been a problem. I believe the would is covered in resin to help with the water proofing.
