My brother and I went in on this 77 galaxie. Bought it on Craigslist 2 years ago for wakeboard/ski. It was in decent shape, newer interior. Solid full stringer 460 / Berkeley JC. We adjusted the timing and carb and it ran great. We had a lot of water getting in the boat and we broke a motor mount 1st time out (3 point mount). Also couple freeze plugs leaking. With winter approaching we pulled the motor. After inspection (pulled oil pan) we were happy everything looked good. Had some slack in the timing chain, no ridge in the cylinders with good compression. We put a comp cam and valve spring kit, double roller timing chain. Weiand stealth with 800 Holley. New freeze plugs and gaskets. Powermaster starter . All new cables. My brother made solid motor mounts and beefed up the stringer mount too. He went through the pump with new bearings and seals/gaskets. Filed some small dings out of the impeller. We are so happy with it!! We owe a lot to the members of SCJB answering all our guestions. We are at 5,500.00 including price of boat. We're running 56 mph, hoping a diverter will get us close to 60.
