Oh Sh*t handle
« on: March 07, 2014, 03:58:10 AM »
Should I be thinking of putting some sort of oh sh*t handle for my passenger? I was thinking of something mounted to the stringer. Mainly for shut down to keep them in the seat. I never really thought about it since I have the wheel to hold on too. I don't find myself in the pass seat too often.

I am gonna pipe in on this one seeing as though I'm in the passenger seat most of the time... My hubby (All Fired Up) put an 'oh shit bar' in our boat for me up front... (It's on the side by my leg) I do grab it quite often... It's got nothing to do with being scared or anything like that... It's more just to help me keep my ass in my seat at certain times! 😁

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Just something to keep her butt in the seat.

def give them a handle to make them feel safer.  remember you have a steering wheel to hang on to.  but most importantly NEVER do something that makes your passenger feel unsafe.  you might have a blast going balls out down the river but your passengers bouncing around in their seats dont want to say that they're really frightened.  they might not understand that they're only going 60-80mph... your mind being that close to the water in a low freeboard boat makes it feel like 200mph.

ive done some STUPID shit in my times with my cars by myself and lived to tell the tales... and the ONE TIME i got tossed into a 180* spinout my wife was in the back seat laying down.  im super lucky she wasnt tossed out, into the side/motor/etc.  handle or not, shit happens.

I ordered my handle up from an industrial furniture supply store. Then had it powdercoated. If you're looking for stringer mounted and can't find one, it's something I could have made for you and pcoated... I'll take pics of mine when I get home. Cost me 14$ total
