That turbo Trans Am sounds like one hell of a fun ride. On the other hand they made a turbo Grand National also. Witch means there is parts avaliable to make that Grand National a turbo if you wanted to. I think I would have to take the TA. Whats the horsepower to weight ratio on them?

Grand Nationals are all turbos...The TTA is rated at 250 but is actually 301 on a Dyno..The National is around 275hp...I think the National is a more solid car and wouldn't tend to turn into a rattle trap like the TTA but they only made 1500 tta's and there were 25,000 Nationals produced...The TTA has a Buick motor in it and top speed is a ridiculous 178MPH 'cause of arodynamics..there is a TTA in Tucson with only 45,000 miles on it..The National has a better resale value... There is a National in Phoenix with only 25,000miles..The National has a better resale value and I plan on it being a daily driver...

Damn Warlock . You got yourself quite a delema . I have never seen with my own two eyes a national for sale around here and I would love to own one . On the other hand the TA is an awsome rare find too with more ponies right off the bat . I guess your screwed cuz your gonna have to buy both.

The Grand National, no contest. The F-body's are P.O.S.'s that fall apart before their powertrains do (and it sounds like you already know that). F a F-body. Grand Nationals rock.

That is initally what I thought when I read the first , but I also have a sweet spot for the TA.

Dude step away from the TTA they are piles of crap, F Bodies just plain suck. The GN is the way to go yeah it's only 275 or so Hp but that is stock you can get a lot more power out of them GN with out changing a single part.

Maybe if your lucky you will find that it's a GNX model Grand National. If I recall right the GNX pushed 341hp.
Alot of people don't know that a GNX even existed cause there is only one identifing mark on the entire
car so set it apart from a standard GN.

If your really looking to go fast I got a sick 500+hp Corvette for sale!

Well I drove 3 freakin' hours to look at a National in Peoria for $28K...thinkin' it would be perfect since it was at an Acura lot and only had 28,000 miles on it..I got there at night (great way to buy a car huh?) and I noticed that some of the hardware under the hood had a little rust on it not common with AZ..After a carfax found out that it spent 17yrs in Ill. Low milage but that scares me...So I passed on it...There is another one in Costa Mesa which I have never been to but the guy at the dealer ship tells me that a car from the Cal. coast gets as much rust and salt as an eastern car from the ocean. ??? I have never heard this one before..Do any of you Californians have any insight on this?

I grew up in Daytona Florida lived on the ocean front and none of my folks cars ever rusted.

In addition I spent 8 years in the Marine corps of whick I was stationed at several beack cities such as.
Camp Pendleton, SoCAl.
Camp Lejune NC
San Diego, SoCal
Okinawa Japan

Anyhow none of my cars ever rusted from being by the ocean.

May need to call mythbusters on this one I think the guy is full of Sh&t myself.

I have lived in San Diego my whole life and none of my my cars have rusted out due to it. We get a little surface rust due to humidity but nothing bad at all. The only cars that get real rust come from were it snows and they put salt on the roads, Like the east coast does.

I've seen many California cars with rust problems, all normally parked with a couple of blocks of the beach, including here in San Diego. Dew, mist, and fog are all going to carry the salt in the air from the ocean a little ways off the water. Arizona has one of the dryest climates in the country and if there's a over concern about rust then the vehicle should be bought from there.
