LOX is some seriously dangerous shit. Do you install all the connections as well? I remember some stories from my father when he was stationed at Edwards AFB (AFRPL) and he was working with the Atlas, Thor and Saturn rocket programs. Petroleum products don't mix well with LOX. I think they used Molybdinum Disulfide on the LOX line connections. Are you familiar with this and is MD still used today? Dad used to bring home Liquid Nitrogen in a Thermos bottle occasionally and that was fun on golf balls and other rubber objects. The coolest stuff that he ever brought home was small chunks of solid rocket propellant, much better than sparklers on the 4th of July.

Hallet Dave, believe it or not the state of California has certified me to install and pipe the Oxygen systems for hospitals! We use a lubricant on threaded fittings now called Krytox. I know from experience oxygen and oils don't mix! I work for Airgas and do piping and tank installs for oxygen, nitrogen, argon, co2 nitrous and hydrogen it gets interesting!

55 ton reactor tear down and removal in La Jolla. Too bad I didn't get pic if the crane outrigger sinking 2ft into the parking lot when we unloaded it lol. Heavy mechanical equipment installation. I'll see if I can find some pics of turbines I rebuild for GE. They're pretty sweet.

Well being a union plumber/ maintenance man I would say he's a step up from me. Hand me some rubber gloves and an apron and title me shit can cleaner. Beats repairing sewer pipe any day.... Especially considering you know what's in the can and how much. you never know what's gonna come out that pipe when you crack it open let alone how much. I pray every time I dig the hole deep enough.

Don't know if you call this "cool" but its what I do and I'm good at it, Plumber/handy man. Had to replace back to back shower valves in an ancient apartment. The tricky part is getting both hands in the hole so I can play with it lol. And in the one pic my hand isn't extended all the way.

N/B transfer truck hauling Asphalt ran off the shoulder over correct flipped ontop of the ford flex then while everything was sliding across he highway they took the bread van head on. Not sure if the driver of the bread van is going to make it. Now we get to clean up all the spilled diesel and asphalt early tomorrow so good night.

I started out with Security Paving when i first got into the union as an apprentice and after 2 years ended up with Las Vegas Paving and ive been with them ever since. Pretty much stuck with the dirt work but ive been on a couple portable crushers when i first started out. But those pics are from LVP. they have alot of nice equipment, unfortunately i was in a work truck that blew a tire on the freeway doing 70 and was ejected and ended up fracturing my neck. But luckily im doing pretty good and out of my brace now and hoping to go back to work soon!

Your right it is a small world. I'm glad your driver made it out with only a broken leg. He did not look in good shape when they flew him out from the scene. Another small world is my dad has millers towing in Lone pine and this is not his area but Pearsons towing was not available so the called my dad for the heavy duty wrecker so it was cool I got to work with him again on a crash. I'm really glad your driver made it he was grim at the scene.

PS all my workers got to eat all the deer meat I promised to bring to the Laughlin event. Sorry this spring I will redeem myself.

I'm a finish carpenter.
Mouldings, doors, Windows, cabinets, custom stuff mainly.
We build everything on site generally.
Beams and columns are all done in poplar.
Raised panels are MDF, and crown moulding inside the beams is MDF as well.
We are not doing the kitchen on this job but we are handling all the other wood work through out.

That's exactly what he says lol. We have the 613s and 621s in the marine corps (I'm an operator) and they definitely beat you up.
How long have you been with the union? I applied for HE operator and will take whatever I can get started on, I'll find out next week what my score was. I really wish my licenses rolled over once I'm out but unfortunately 7 years of operating gone.

I have been in the operating engineers for a year and a half but have been around heavy equipment since iwas a kid .I used 5th bea mmechanic for Johnson machinery (cat dealership).The smaller the scraper the rougher they are.657 and 651 are much easier on your body , but while running those you get into some pretty gnarly situations. A lot of times starting out company's will start you out on a forklift or roller.i got told by my father in law that when I started I would be on a 651 scraper because it was the foundation of of dirt work.after running a 51 for over a year you drive around the job sometimes 150 times a day so you get to see what everyone is doing in the the cut and the fill and everyone in between.

A rough idea....
The carved post/legs on either side of the fireplace are $1800 a piece.
All the carved mouldings are from White River Mouldings and averaged $12 ish a foot....
Some pieces were literally inches short so an entire extra stick had to be purchased, which was an easy way to double cost.

Each crew uses a set of two Locos per shift to move and build trains in a yard. After a train is fully built road Locos are put on in place of the RCs and sent off to the next yard.

Typically EMD locomotives which are made by General Motors. We also use new Gensets which are new and have three caterpillar engines in them. The pairs usually look like these.

I watched the guys make the seamless gutters at my shop, I was amazed. The machine they had in there van that formed the gutter was bad ass, I had never seen anything like that.

I used to be an aluminum welder up in Washinton state, but lost that job so now I'm trying to save my money and move my family down to So Cal, working in the R&D dept. of Pertronix, at the Irwindale branch (who also own Doug's, JBA, and Patriot header companies) making header prototypes for new cars, and sometimes I get to make headers for friends of the company. That's Mon-Thur., 4-10's, then on Fri.-Sun, I work with Bobby Walden at Walden Speed Shop in Pomona. I'm learning the YODER, and Pullmax, plus help build cool HotRods. Currently welding up and machining an LS intake to fit a 4-71 blower on it.....

Here's the LS intake Bobby and I have made. His design and ideas, and I machined it, hand fit individual runner pieces, then welded it up, made and welded in the blow off valves, and machined it again. I myself am not really an LS guy, I like old, leaky, unreliable motors, but there seem to be a lot of interest in LS motors, and not many 4-71 styles out there that we know of...

Yes there is a control box you have to setup inside the Locomotive to put it into remote mode. There are certain Locos that are built for RC operations. Each crew uses a set of two Locos per shift to move and build trains in a yard. After a train is fully built road Locos are put on in place of the RCs and sent off to the next yard.
