X2. Pretty easy to put good money after bad. While Kona is a good, solid boat, it'll never bring the slightly higher resale value of a name like, Hallett, Sanger, Nordic,Sleekcraft or Southwind.

That's not to say it's not a worthwhile project! Seems all there and if the stringers/floor, etc are good, I'd build the snot out of it!

On a 21'-23' daycruiser, kinda hard to have built in "weirdness". They were all splashed off one another, for the most part. Not gonna build up enough speed to show any real hull design flaws (Such as porposing, etc) that you would find pretty quickly in an 18' boat with high HP applied. It's a cruiser. Just make sure it's solid, safe, throw some respectable, low maintenance HP at it and have fun!

Ray

Edit: wanted to throw in there, it looks VERY much like a splash of a Hallett bottom with the roundness of the nose, etc. The step-deck looks Sleek-ish, but the upper tier more like a bubble deck. Pretty unique and done well! Given the right paint scheme could be a really sweet float!

Good to know. I really want it for family outtings. we have tubes, wakes and skis fomr this searay but this thing doesnt run very well. If this Kona works out to be a great, realiable runner i would be ecstatic. On the plus side; im getting it for free from a close family friend so it wont hurt as bad if i need to wholesale it.

Does anybody have an idea of how heavy this boat may be? The owner doesnt remember and is currently searching out his paperwork.

Finding that HIN # will sure help us all out.  I do seem to remember that Sanger made a cruiser with their bubble deck grafted onto the top deck kind of like this one. That HIN # will verify it.

Heavy, my guess is around 2300+/-

With good power and pump might push 60mph. You'll find most of your driving to be around 30-40 mph, don't need to chine walk to have a good time!

Secure it and get'r runnin.

Apprently the throttle cable broke back in 96(when this boat was last registered) and was completely removed (and lost). Its, as noted earlier, a 22' Kona with bbc 454, 4 barrel holley. The driver is on the left side. What throttle cable do it need to get? I dont even know where to start.

Even though ive had the boat for quite some time i finally got the HIN Number. Any input is appreciated.

JRS7J7210774-75.

I also got it running a bit. Exciting to know that everything, motor wise, still operates as needed after sitting since 96. Just nee da few more little things and registration and i'll be going for the first test.
