Little story just to remind you guys how bad it can be if you're paperwork isn't in order when you purchase somethin-
Bought a boat Dec. 1st last year, paperwork all looked good, title looks good, boat is registered to the guy I'm buying it from so thats nice, but the boat hasn't been registered for a few years so its lapsed.
Fine knock a few more bucks off and I'll take it. And that was my downfall.

Go to the DMV and everything is good, but they do a background search and not only is there a lien against the boat and trailer, the bank that has the lien no longer exists, and the lien is in the name of the original owner from 1983, sweet
Luckily track down original owner, send certified mail with release of interest to fill out, get that back fax that to Comerica who bought the nonexistent bank, open case file, do research on history of boat and to make what could be a REALLY long story short, got the lien releases in the mail today! So three months or so after I started it is actually my boat
I would love to say this was my fault but my paperwork was perfect,
can't figure out how anyone registered the boat ever, gotta love the DMV

So I gotta get this thing fixed, needs new steering, throttle cable and a forward reverse, but i can almost taste it. Rewired the ignition and put in a pushbutton start and the thing fires and runs great

I am sure I will have plenty of retarded questions for you guys over the next month or so,
so thanks in advance and sorry bout the rant
