if you buy stuff from a repo man (wheels stereo & other after market stuff) is that considered buying stoled property ?

i didnt think it was his stuff to sell or remove

Anything "attached" to the vehicle is the property of the finance company. it becomes "part of the vehicle" when installed. Even when the vehicle is repo'd the owner can only take belongings from the vehicle, not the sub boxes, performance mods, wheels, etc.

Its stealing from the bank if the repo guy is taking the parts....I would atleast report his thief ass! If he will steal from the bank he will also break into Omars truck in his driveway!

I had a dirt bike impounded once and was able to go pick it up about five hours later.  The bike was smokin hot and out of gas.  When I asked WTF, the reply was "it must not have cooled down from yet from when we took it from you"

Repo guys get into their jobs a little too much, if you ask me. Kinda like bounty hunters. And I don't beleive for a second they don't steal parts.

My only experience with them deals with my late wifes death. She had a Kia, that I drove, while she drove my Pontiac. Felt better letting her drive the GOOD car. Anyway, after she died, I kept telling the bank, come and get it, I don't want it. They kept trying to get me to pay for it. It was worth more than we owed, but I did NOT need 4 cars. There was no inheritance to speak of, so, come get it. You'll make a buck on it, we'll call it good. I got enough going on right now, I do not need to be listing a car for sale and deal with that too.

After 3 months, they have an attorney's office call me about her estate and crap. I told them the same thing, Come and get the car, been telling the bank this for months, have the repo guy call me before he comes and I'll meet him in the driveway with the keys, hell I'll even drive it to their lot if he brings me home. The repo guy calls me as I'm halfway to work, a week later. I think he was waiting at the end of the street for me to leave. I said I'll be right there. I turn around, back there in 15 minutes, he's gone, cars still there.

Same thing happened 2 more times. Then, my neighbor calls me at 3 am on a Wednesday nite (My car was parked in my neighbors driveway across the cul de sac as we had been moving my boats around with his truck) telling me there's someone stealing my car. I go outside, 10mm in hand, to see this idiot trying to pull the Kia from my driveway with a chain.  Had it halfway to the street. I stop him, call the cops, and after all was said and done, hand him the keys and the cops give him a serious ass chewing and a ticket for disturbing the peace and reckless operation once they heard my story.

Why break the car? I mean for Christs sake, I was being nice. Fugger deserved it, and lucky he didn't get shot!

If you have knowledge that the "goods" aren't his , and purchase anyway you would be "complicent" , If you suspect this as said I wouldn't participate either , Some Tow companies and Storages actually go thru the process of leagally taking possesion of a vehicle (lien sale) as well as having the option (I belive ) of negotiateing purchase of Salvage and vehicles from the lenders etc . I this is the case then the contents of the vehicle (after proper notification , documentation and time constraints ) are likely "fair game" Just my OP Tom

I used to have to "car thiefs" as they called themselves ( repo guys) who would use my lot when they had a "double" They told me you can take a guys wife , but when you go for his dog or his "ride" look out 

uhhh....well i have a different way of looking at things being this is what i do. 

we have some banks that literally tell us to remove the aftermarket accessories from the vehicle.  they feel it brings the value of the car down. 

this could be a fancy head unit or a pair of subs.  even some sweet plate frames.

the cars we take go to our yard, get cleaned out, and sent to auction.   

if you guys saw some of the shit i pull out of cars you may get sick!!!

these people know we're coming!  its not like you "unintentionally" forgot to pay your bill for 90 days.

any items we remove from cars...mainly dirty clothes and cell phone chargers...go into holding for a month to be claimed by the registered owner.  after that its either thrown away, sold, or given to good will.  in some casses drivers may keep stuff but its rare anything comes in worth wanting.



for all of you that say we are "thieves"

i do repossessions and private party impounds for a living.   there are some shady company's out there let me tell you.  but not all of them and not all of the drivers.  i can honestly say i have never stolen anything from a car i have brought in.  i have taken possession of several cool items but i did it the right way.

its no different then your car getting towed and the towing company jacked all your shit out of it.

by law we cannot enter a vehicle unless requested by local law enforcement with an officer present.  in the last year it happened one time for a vin check.




last but not least...we try to get keys for every car.  if this means letting the people get there shit out and we get keys thats the best thing.  plus then i dont  have to dig through some gross ass cadi i pulled from ne porland with needles and shit.  its not worth the 100$ subs in the trunk!

Nobody is calling "You" a thief. But you have to admit that in every industry their are crappie people!

Repo guys have "unrestricted" access to the vehicles and all the contents in it and its not hard to say "uh, what amp and sub?". Its sucks that there are shaddy a$$ people in this world, but there are.

Not about thieving but kind of the same attitude, I had a friend who had his Dodge truck repo'd. He begged and borrowed for the money, went down and paid the bank. Went he went to pick it up, it was very noticible that the yard had "Fork Liffted" the side of the truck to move it around their yard. "He was like, what the flock". The companies "Managers exact answer was "It came in like that"!

i dont doubt it...there are some really nasty beings out there.  there is a towing company that maybe even made news down there...they would go into a apartment complex or into a parking lot and put there signs up and then take cars out.  there are facing like 23 felonies at this point and that is nowhere near the amount they think will pop up.  its amazing what people will do for a buck. 

im not saying that your calling me a thief...sorry if i gave that impression.   i agree 100% that there are some shady peeps out there.  all i am saying is im not one of them...

Besides, SCJB's repoman is from Oregon, which automatically makes him honest. Up here, our tap water is cold and clear, our politicians less corrupt, our women a little less skanky, our beer a whole lot tastier, our airports WAY better than that POS at OC and best of all... no sales tax! 

Of course we don't actually have an economy or very many people, but that's besides the point. 

From what I remember the water must be good for the figure also
