rice power jet boat

i was wondering why there is not more rice powered jet boats. these inline 6 supra motors are putting out 800hp all day and can turn 8200 rpm. why are people not trying them out in a jet boat.

ive thought about it....i dont know why...theres some beefy vw motors out there too...

getting a driveline and a mount made isnt impossible either.

i know theres the one vid of the mazda turbo rotary motor out there....but i have never see anything other then a bbf, bbc or olds in jet boats.

You don't want to turn 8200rpm.... the smaller the impeller, the more inefficient a pump becomes....

There should be a sufficient supply of used Nascar Toyota motors avaliable that aren't any good for anything else

tork is the dogs name. but these supras run the 1/4 in 10 sec or less. they have more torque than my big block does easily. and saving that much weight has to do something for the top end. even if you dont use all the rpms the motor can turn.

like i said the motor i was really looking at was the inline 6 used by toyota in the last generation of the twin turbo supra. those are torque monsters and have build sheets to easly get big hp numbers.

i think having one header would be pretty funny. either over the top or thru the transom. and it would sound weird as hell when you backed off the throttle and you heard turbo blow off valves or wastegates..lol

this would be pretty badass!...those 2JZ motors are pretty damn bullitproof...the bottom end can handle a shatload of power w/out going into it.

Most Supras will make there peak Torque at 5500 RPM's and Peak horsepower between 6 and 6500 RPM's totally do-able! The week point will be having a pump that can spin to 8000 without problem/reliable.

I had a Toyota 4x4 with a Turbo Celica motor in it, the problem is it had to be turning 2500-3000RPM to have enough balls to make enough power to blend a smoothie, made a bunch of power after that though.

A big block Chevy makes a ton of torque from about 1500 RPM and up and marine hardware can be bought off E bay for peanuts..

But do it, it would be cool as hell, There are Toyota boat motors and even Toyota boats, there more of the roll bar/towboat type, but might be a good starting point for making big power, I don't know enough about them to know for sure..

I think that the reason people havent tried it yet is for the fact that youd have to pretty much make ur own wiring harness and everything else for it. Ud have to get the computer from a car, and all the sensors too. Plus ud have to fab some headers for it, and make a cooling system that would work for marine use. It would be totally badass to see that but it would probably be more work than its worth. Plus if you had problems at the river its alot easier to get some spark plugs or a dizzy cap from the local napa in needles or havasu for a BBC or ford than for a supra engine lol.

Ebay has the 2JZ-GTE (Thats the twin turbo motor, complete with Trannie) for 1500-2000

I think the turbo rotarys are cool too. Don't forget you can run a gear reduction before the jet and still pull a larger impeller.

ya i have a twin turbo mitsu that is puting over 500 to the wheels at around 5 to 6000 rpm. so i was just thinking about it. and the supra motors are very strong and inline so they have more torque. gettin it to run would be pretty easy just need obdII and some sensor crap. up the boost and you would have to make an exhaust but that is not that hard either. might be a fun winter project to see if it works..

i would imagine you could get going pretty fast with 800 hp inline aluminium 6 cylinder.
