Rice road or quartzsite to get to Parker?
« on: April 25, 2016, 07:35:21 AM »
Hi everyone

Wondering what route everyone uses to get to Parker? I usually take rice road but heard that quartzsite road was easier and quicker. Any input would be great heading out to Havasu springs this weekend.

Rice road is about 10 miles shorter, going through the Indian Reservation is straighter and easier. Just gotta watch out for the cops. Should be a cool weekend with Desert Storm going on.

I'm in Big River so usually we go Rice Rd. I wouldn't go Quartzsite, that's a little ways past the AZ border.

You can go Ehrenberg which is Arizona 95. As soon as you cross the river on the 10fwy it's your first exit. Drops you right into Parker. It's a little bit longer than Rice but seems safer and much smoother.

I go both ways depending on weather conditions and if I need fuel or not.

I take Ehrenberg as well. I used to take Rice Rd, but after my wife and I had our boy I decided that it wasn't worth it anymore. Most of my friends have followed suit. It's a little bit longer the Rice, but in my mind a lot safer. Like said above you need to really watch the speed limit signs as there are LEO's waiting to pounce.

Ok cool thanks for the input. I'll try Ehrenburg. I didn't know desert storm was this weekend. Should be fun.
