Roosted a Jet Skier this weekend.
« on: July 21, 2008, 10:04:57 AM »
I was doing maybe 30 MPH down the lake just cruising along. I see a jet skier come at me where I had to crank it over to the right. Then I see him turn around behind my wake. I was like WTF. He then came up beside me trying to race me I guess. I just hammered it and got in front of him and raised the place diverter (manual). I know I soaked him. I then slow down and recognize him as he comes up to the side of me. He is the guy who did my upholstery. He owns the shop. He lives on the lake I go to. We stopped and B.S.ed for a while. He said all he saw was a wall of water coming at him….hahahaha. I almost felt bad… ;D

This was the first time I ever did this and probably the last with the cops on the water all over the place.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

TJ, i got one for you.

i was in Blythe about 5 years ago and i was waiting for my buddy to drop the trailer in so i can pull out. Me & the wife were sitting ina  loaded boat with chairs, ice chests etc... and this fool on a sea do was doing donuts around my boat swamping me. After i determined that he didnt know english, and wasnt about to stop, i proceeded to further pursude him.

Fired the boat up, place diverter down, put it in reverse and throttled up. As he wrapped around the stern I put diverter up, boat in forward and rapped the throttle ever so slightly!

he was seperated from his sea doo by about 20'! ;D And i didnt feel bad at all about it.

He later wanted to take it to the beach, but I guess he decided that getting knocked on his ass once was good enough.  >:D

No jet ski on this one, but still funny. We were running the Rogue River race in '96, we had a big block powered picklefork built by Joel Sheppard (aluminum) and this thing liked to get a little "loose" when you got a lot of air under it, so when you got into a heavy turn you got to experience a little oversteer, a little strange but super fun.

So anyway, at that time there was and still is a 50' rule (nobody is supposed to be within 50' of the river during the race) and while we were running up river just before going under the Lobster Creek Bridge there's a long right hand turn and rocks the size of Greyhound buses on our right, well there were about four people sitting on these rocks two or three feet from the water line and a couple of feet above the water, we were hugging the right side (shorter line) and the wind was coming downriver (we were going up) and when we came around the corner (about were they were on the rocks) the wind hit us in the face and the boat "got light" we went instantly sideways, while correcting, the 6' tall 200+' rooster tail cleaned that rock of all the parasites (spectators), we felt bad for about a second, then we were laughing our asses off. That was the last time that boat ever ran, she went up in the rocks at well over 80MPH that afternoon, love that story though....

I hate to say it but unfortunately i was the victim of a roost...see what had happened was me and a small posse were heading back to the marina after a pleasant day on lake mochoppy...whyen my boat decided it wanted to quit running...so my buddy hooks up to me and he has a PD...and since he was all proud to tow me back i saw the diverter come up, and he looked back and smiled...there was nothing i could do but sit there and take it...

I hosed down a dock with about 15 people on it in burley, idaho.

the 410 boat was havin issues firing and all the other boats in the class had left....when it lit, i floored it to go catch up.....hosed down everyone that was spectating on the doc including an APBA official.

i had no idea what happened until i came in and they told me about it.

Living next to a "no water contact lake" a buddy of mine and I found that it isnt illegal to bring to water to us. In other words we would roost ecch other to cool off. It started off harmless enough but as we honed in on our skills  ::), it started to sting a bit when passing through the brunt of the rooster. We were at Lake San Antonio at the end of last summer and he comes out of nowhere roost down and cuts me right off while giving the hydraulic switch the "up" command  ;D, I let off it right away......bad move....as I slowed his roost was still going upand I was right in the center of the tail, it actually killed the motor and I ended up with  about a foot of water in the boat, he towes me back in and we get it fired up but it had massive blowby, A piston later all was good, and I have since upgraded my scoop  ::)
since that I have "honed in my roost skills and now am a dam good shot with my roost. I found you can get a really high "knock em off the jet ski" score by luring them in with the roost 3 clicks down from full up position, cruise at 3500 rpm. and just troll through the lice..when one gets up behind me to "cool off" I give it full up....and nail it. its so cool to watch the jetski come flying out of the roost with nobody on it. This shot is a guy who actually thanked me.(Avi trip last year) although his passenger wasn't sharing in the celebration.

Great stories guys! It is shyte like this that makes paying $5 a gallon acceptable.

i too was a victim once as well. i was standing on a dock with my 4 yr old in my arms when my buddy decided that i needed to cool down. The classic part is that there were people on both sides of me but he shot just me. I distintly remember my shoes filled to the top with water and everyone laughing at us.
