Santa Clarita or Corona

Curious as to how many people live in/around Santa Clarita or Corona? I will be separating from the Army soon and have accepted a job offer at SpaceX in Hawthorne. Wayyyy to expensive to live in that area so will be living in either Corona or Santa Clarita. They are about the same distance for me. Just seeing how close some of you will be for spur of the moment boating trips.

I live in the i.e. Not to far from corona the traffic to hawthorn will be terrible but it is a nice city to live in

Corona to Hawthorne would be a difficult and time consuming commute. Santa Clarita to Hawthorne down the 405 would make you lose your mind. I guess it all depends when you would be on the road. I live in Sylmar. I commute 110 miles a day to Lancaster. On paper, looks like a mass exodus, nightmare commute. I have zero traffic both ways because of the times of my commute 4am north. 5 pm south. Easy breezy

Toss up....  Traffic will be hard either way.  The good thing about corona is if you go to the river or Glamis a lot you are already through 90% of the traffic. So instead of sitting in traffic twice to get out of town you just do it once on your commute home.

My shift is kind of awkward. It's 330am to 12pm. So traffic won't be an issue for me in any capacity really. I'll also occasionally work the 11pm to 730am shift. My buddy that hired me commutes from corona to there every day and he says the only time he hits traffic going home is on Fridays. I'm from up past Lancaster so another factor for me is driving from the 5 to the 14 back home or taking the 15 up to the 395 which is a death trap.

I'd check out the Eastvale area of Corona. Loved living there and with the shift work you have you wont hit barely any traffic

I live borderline Corona / Riverside near McKinley and I work in Marina Del Rey (about 8 miles from Hawthorne). My boss lives in Santa Clarita off of Magic Mtn Pkwy. My commute is about 10 miles longer than his but it takes us the same amount of time, anywhere between an hour and a half to 2 hours on bad days. So, its really going to come down to preference.

It seems like there are a lot more places in the corona area to rent than there is in Santa Clarita.... That plays a factor as well. I wouldn't mind renting an apartment for a couple of months but ideally I'd like a place to keep my float.

My buddy lives in chino, 60 fwy n mountain, and drives to Hughes aircraft some where near LAX. He used to really hate his commute until he bought a Chevy Volt. He has the stocker which allows him to use the carpool lane. He says 45 min to an hour, on a bad day, to get to work. He works all shifts. I dont hear him complain about his drive anymore. I dont think i would complain either if i made 150K a year, though.
