Shasta 2011
« on: August 16, 2011, 10:43:41 PM »
Finally made it back to lake Shasta for a few days....

The trip there was half the "fun"..

On the way up, after stopping for a little lunch, noticed the trailer winch was hanging by the strap.....We broke the winch off of the stand, mounting plate and all....

That was a new one... :screwy:

Got that rectified and about 150 miles later, we lose a tire on the trailer in the middle of BFE. The biggest problem was the road was under construction and as the big rigs go by I got peppered with rocks trying to tie up the axle because of my shortsightedness of not grabbing the spare tire from my boat (brought the old mans cruiser)...

Once we got there, it was awesome, we owned the place, there was no one camping within 200 yards of us, when we were on the water I don't think we saw more than 50 boats the whole time on the water (we burned almost 100 gallons of 91 AKI...)

The weather was in the low 90's all four days and was about 55-60* at night, slept like a baby. As perfect as you could ask for.

A little more later.

A teaser... :sly:

Awesome Glenn! I gotta say Shasta is my all time favorite lake. We talked about doing it this year but are doing Powell instead. Where did you guys camp? We always do Jones beach. This is a pic of my old boat on Shasta.

you're right about shasta being awesome, we went there in june and had a bitchen time, we launched at antlers so we had to put up with a little debris coming from up river but other then that we had a great time. can't wait to get back up there. we also had one minor problem on the trip, going down the 99 the road was so crappy it pulled the eye out the front of the boat and it slid forward about a foot and a half, if the spare was'nt mouted to the toungue of the trailer it would have slid to the bumper

Launched at Antlers and stayed at the Antlers RV resort....Great people, can't think of one thing I would change (saying a lot for me)...

Not much time right now, another "teaser...".

Almost the whole lake was this vacant. Made me wish we had a 100+MPH boat...

Saw this in Redding when we went to get a tire for the trailer.
