Wellmy never ending search for a boat is getting close to an end. I found this Tahiti on Craigslist. It is the hull design and 454 berk. combination I have been looking for. The guy sent me some more info I copied down below. He is asking $3600 and will take $3000.
What do you guys think of Tahiti they seem to be everywhere. He is in the San Diego area which is 4 hours from me. It would be cool if someone has looked at this locally and  could give me a heads up.

where did you find those other 2 boats. What websights are out there besides craigslist etc. The guy with the Tahiti said it needs a buff job and interior scrubbing that is the TLC he was talking about

You're right, Tahiti's are everywhere. $3,000 to $4,000 is an everywhere kind of price for them also. All Tahiti's are 1/4 stringer boats. Want a full stringer Tahiti? Buy a Kona. In the thread "find me a jet boat" (or something like that) and other threads here, we've seen full stringer Sanger's and other full stringer boats for about $4,000. That loss of 3/4 of stinger isn't going to make it any of a better of a boat for somone who has children or anyone who may have other's in their family to please other than themselves. But that gain of a 3/4 stringer will make it a better boat for a family, or anyone for that matter. The full stringer boat will hold its resale value more. It will also hold that boat together better when your family is in it. We are talking about boats that are typically more than 20 years old. I truly believe that the extra $1,000 is more than worth it irregardless of the purchaser's needs. Another thing, it's got a Mark V block which definately did not come in that boat. It's got bottom of the barrel heads on it, standard size bore, yet it's supposed to be just rebuilt with one trip on it. So it's roughly a 1993 block that's seeing marine duty with standard bore cast pistons AND it's got a "B" impellor on it (needs high RPM's to see top speed). When I look at that particular boat I see a very clean looking boat, just like the last 10 Tahiti's I saw for $3,000 to $3,500, with absolutely nothing outstanding about it. It will never be more, and can definately be a lot less if it's not maintained. "It's a great boat to start out" (I.E.: will hold you off until you figure out what's really going on with jet boats or until you find something better).

My very long winded two cents. By the way, for some reason     there are some people out there that love those Tahiti's, even Brad wants one.

I think that the boat is a fair deal. I wouldn't shy away from it. If the guy already said he would take 3 grand. he'll take less.
     Having said this....Remember  that this is no race boat and  it is a simple family boat. I wouldn't worry about the Gen5 motor. Parts are abundant and as long as you don't thrash the thing ,it will last.

      1/4 stringer boats usually have a piece of plywood fiberglassed in the seating area for additional strength and ease of upholstry installation. Jim Riches' Sanger has 1/4 stringers and he hasn't had any trouble with his.....he beats on it too.
    Look at the boat in person and look for any repaired areas.....or better yet take one of us with you......I'lll help you out if you're local.GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 'C' bowls are great bowls and alot of guys will make them into a split bowl.They apparently have a better flow than the others. So, that's a plus. Call me if you like 562 307 5578...Rick

i laughed out loud when i read that.

In the past I have watched the craigslists in sac, sf, and other norcal areas.....tahiti's are flourishing up there....and some area great deals and look great. I am sure you are exhausting these resources, but I just wanted to point out that I tend to see a lot more tahiti's in that area.

the only reason I was looking for a tahiti is because my father owned a '74 tahiti tiger back in the day and I think it would be cool to own another one....or even find the original one. I have found the old registration and stuff....wonder if I can pull up the current owner at the DMV.
