Well you also have to remember the iPhone 5 wont have 4G, so yeah the Bionic is going to smoke it in speed. But a buddy I work with has another 4g phone from Verizon, I have the iPhone 4, yes his phone is faster, yes it will do everything my phone will... But I can do it all for 3-4 times as long. He just just using it normally it will die in 4 hours because of how much battery 4G needs. That is also the reason iPhone 5 won't be 4G, apple is obsessed with battery life. So if you wont to be hooked to a wall or some kind of charger, but super fast get a 4G phone. If you can wait because you are okay with being a little slow and able to move around go with 3G...

my samsung 4G facinate phone battery lasts for more than a day with lots of use but I really want an Iphone 5  >:D

Ha, yeah... But is it a true 4G or they just calling it 4G? And I do you run it on 4G? And you say a lot of use, like texting? Or Internet, apps, and phone calls?
Because I know you can turn it off. Like I'm on the iPhone 4 and I can turn off 3G and run on just the 2G network stream.

check out if you were to switch to an iphone plan how it would affect your plan in terms of minutes, text, data.

the iphone has a few things going for it... its UI is freakin ROCK SOLID and polished.  Battery life is generally better than any android, due to no backgrounded applications. i have to run my "ATK" on crazy settings on screen off just to keep my android battery life up. I personally dont have an iphone because of the lack of a hard keyboard.  on screen typing is horrible and swype is a pathetic attempt at trying to make it less painful.  Another big feature for me is google navigation and turn by turn directions.  anything available on android is on apple iStore and vice versa.   iphone integrates into most newer cars these days with the radio whereas droid phones are stuck with headphone cables and no "on screen" details/controls.  another plus for me is the seamless google voice integration into android and phone dialing.  want to make a call from your gvoice line?  just dial and select "google voice" when prompted... bam done.  two lines, one phone.

theres a ton of apps for the iphone, but because of apple dev costs and istore fee's, most of them arent free.   you get nickel and dimed for anything you actually want to use, $1.99 here and there.  Droid has a ton of free apps and games but its free and flooded with a ton of garbage apps.  iStore keeps the junk out with their approval process.

I only have one question..........How many of the opinions were posted from the opinionators smart phones???? ;D

I still have my Blackberry, still like it, don't need internet when I ain't at home, but I can fudge my way through it with it if absolutely necessary. Phone calls, text messages and E-Mails are all I really use it for.........Maybe that's just me.........

I'm up for a new one as well, but I'm on T-Mobile and the MyTouch kinda has my interest, as does this thread, and hopefully my new phone won't Butt Dial Pat all the damn time........ :screwy:

I use the Internet a lot on my phone. Craiglist, some dumb jet boat website, eBay, I look up addresses and phone numbers, google earth in the navigation makes life a little easier.
Could I get by without it? Yes
Could I get by without a cell phone? Yes
Who the hell am I kidding, I couldn't get by without it!
This thing is like a pace maker.

One time I had a nightmare that I left my phone in the other room. Without it I couldn't find my way back to the other room. THEN, I realized it wasn't a dream!!!!!!!!!!

We could split hairs all day long explaining why one is better than another, but I think we will all agree that the group of smart phones (what ever brand) are worlds apart from a normal cell phone!

I have never heard anyone that had one say "Well that was a waste of money, I'm switching back to my nokia".

I would compare smart phones to cars and non-smart phones to bicycles!

Of course iPhones being BMWs and all others being Kias. :devilsmiley:

Just think.....7 or so years ago your phone was awesome just to have a color screen....and not even a camera on it.

its amazing how far these phones have come so far so quick.

I broke my OG Droid phone at the last big river trip. i made it last through the weekend, but it finally kicked the bucket when I got home. I went 2 days without a phone. I would be out and about on the town and would think 'oh i can find that on google maps'....or 'oh i can google that' ....i was just completely lost for 2 days. its amazing how much i've become dependent of it.

I know huh? I remember right before Y2K at about the end of my Radio Shack career, the cell carriers were saying at a meeting in Ft Worth "in the next few years, you'll be able to send and receive e-mails, pictures, text mail (That's what they called it then), and eventually even be able to surf the internet and hold Net Meetings all from your handheld phone".

Collectively, all us DSM's and RSM's looked around at each other like someone had just said "Aliens had landed, they're taking over the world, and taking all your women".

Later we laughed it off, "Yeah right................and who the hell would need, pay for, or even use any of that.........."   :banghead: :banghead:

Back then tho, we were just getting used to having "Dual NAM" capability to lower roaming charges and not miss phone calls. The state of the art phones were the Startac and the Nokia 292....... :screwy:

Back on Topic, since I'm with T-Mobile (and have a helluva deal so don't want to change carriers). Whats the opinion/experience with the MyTouch 4G? I haven't heard much talk about it.

Ha, you haven't heard much talk about it because not a whole lot of people have t-mobile. If I were you and you could hold out for another year, t-mobile and AT&T are merging and then you will have a lot more options...

sure but the biggest option right now is to get on the tmobile unlimited plan and then get absorbed in to ATT.  Not many places offer unlimited everything for $79.  I've been with tmobile ever since they were voicestream.  sure they dont have the best service in the world, but they're cheap.

I been hearing that for 2 years now. Not gonna happen any time soon with the lawsuits flying....... :sly:

And I agree somewhat. No big complaints on my T-Mobile service, however. AT&T I've had MANY issues in the past. Kinda like when you take a bucket of clean water and mix it in a bigger bucket with a bucket of dirty water. Now all you got is a bigger bucket of dirty water.  :screwy:

And my plan is unlimited everything on my phone, unlimited text and calls on the kids, and yeah, dirt cheap, DIRT DIRT cheap, and not any coverage issues where I use it.  The kids phones even work at their Mothers place, so if they work within the bowels of Hell itself, I'm good!   ;D

TMobile has almost 34,000,000 Subscribers making them the 4th largest wireless carrier in this country.

BTW, the justice dept is not going to allow ATT to buy there way to being the largest US carrier. All they keep doing is buying smaller carriers to add to their subscriber base and not legitimately growing the company. Its hard to grow when your customers are jumping ship because of your rediculous fees and policies unless you buy up the companies they are running to. Bigger is not better!

Ray, most of the time i have a tough time choking down what you write AND THEN YOU GO AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!!

How cheap is cheap?
My plan is 2 iPhones unlimited everything, and 2 more iPhones 2gigs Internet and unlimited everything else $212 a month. I'm not saying it is cheap but that is what I pay.

And as for more2life I wasn't including anyone incapable of using it! I saw Sally Struthers feed her Droid to two bloated African kids. I assume they also shared the same opinion as your grandmothers. I stand corrected. I will be more specific next time so that I don't get blindsided again!

Well, I pay $97 and change...........LONG story as to why, but it's a combination of a dealer plan and because they still think I work for Home Depot.....lol. But they've taken care of me, after about 50 some phone calls back and forth almost 3 years ago, and a Vice President finally getting involved, and I take care of them as much as possible by keeping their service. And they've replaced my Blackberry far more often than they should have. One is at the bottom of Saguaro Lake.

I'm not a total idiot, I just play one on SCJB more often than I should...... 8)

And I agree, My mom just got text messaging since pops died (He was a cheap 'ol fart like me and wouldn't pay for the extras) after having cell phones for 15 years because that's the most sure fire way to get a quicker response from my brother and I or her grandkids. Takes her anywhere from an hour to 2 days to respond to a text...........but she's figuring it out. If I even mention doing e-mails, GPS, Internet and all that, that stress might just finish the 'ol broad off........so I don't.

Now about this MyTouch........... :sly:

My first galaxy lasted a year, and that is a record for me. Usually my phones make it 6 months...needless to say im impressed. If this t-mobile att thing happens im going back to verizon

tmobiles plan right now is $49.99 x2 lines for unlimted talk, text, and web.  no "2 gigs" no "1500 texts"... unlimited.  So you're paying twice as much for less.   :-\
