« on: June 11, 2015, 10:06:20 AM »
Whats your thoughts on running solid roller camshafts in a jetboat, that's probably used 20 hrs a year. People think im nuts but I have not had any problems.

A lot of us do run them.  Some guys don't want to mess with then do to the maintenance of adjusting them.  I like mine but I don't mind adjusting them when needed.

We run one as well but I don't think it takes much maintenance. I check ours maybe 3 - 4 times a season but we
don't make all the trips either dammit !
If it ain't broke  !    Ha ha ha...

The thing with solid tappet cams (flat or roller) is if you run it often you should adjust it often, if you only run it a few times a year you only have to adjust it a few times a year.  ;)

If you're against adjusting valves at least every few trips I'd recommend going hydraulic.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

My first boat had a mechanical cam and I checked it before every trip and it was never out of adjustment. Mechanical por vida putos!
