stupid question....

so i see a few oil pans for sale for bbc and bbf.  most in not all state theyre for a jet boat.  question is, what is the difference between a jet boat oil pan and any other performance pan?  im sure a stock pan has less control of oil...sloshing around, etc.  thanks for the patience on what could be a dumb question.

Compared to cars, the motor sits backwards, and so under acceleration the oil will not be properly controlled.   An auto pan will not do a good job of keeping the pick up submerged.
Also many oil related failures on BBC motors have been blamed on NOT running Armando's pans.  FYI

Man I hate to question your reply....but engine sitting backwards?
Flex plate is towards rear of vehicle, same as boat. Which part is backward?  Forward acceleration moves oil towards flex plate....same as boat. What am I missing?

in v-drives the engine is backwards,, unless it runs the drive shaft off the balancer.. my flatty has a backwards sitting bbc in it , it has a 10 qt dooley v-drive pan, the pick- up and baffels in the pan are on the opposite end because the engine is backwards..

Yup, my bad.  I shouldn't be trying to work and talk boats at the same time.
But regardless, stick with an Armando pan in a BBF.  Worth the $$$

I have a Basset in my BBF for 9+ years an I roll up river burning through a full tank of gas every trip. Check with your boat engine builder.

Currently not building my bbf. I've got a jet, not v drive. A cruiser at that....nothing that will set fire to water. I've just noticed pans for sale and wanted to know if there's a difference with a keyboard motor pan vs?   Besides v drive.

An automotive car pan it will hit on the bottom of your boat. the car pan sits deaper. your going to need a stock oil pan or a 10 quart boat pan. dont get one for a vdrive for your application.

Sorry....I come from driving vw bugs, etc.  Oil pans for them were cheaper than some of these. So Maybe I've got a bit of sticker shock....even for used pans. Quite a pretty penny for some stamped steel that's been welded on to make larger and add a few windage baffles. Guess that's why I was asking if there were any differences or Maybe justification to the price tag of some pans.

I bought a v drive pan for my jet boat. Used. I drilled out the welds for the trap door and jyst flipped it over to the other side (the correct side). Then I just re welded the spot welds. Turned out great. Use what u can get!

I used a Hamburgers 10qt pro stock pan on my Spectra from Jegs. They have the same pan for a BBF with a rear p/u assembly.  Great pan for the money. They have an expanded metal windage grate and a crank scraper. There also not a modified and welded stock pan. They are also clearanced for a atroker to boot.
