switching from OT bassetts to TT logs/risers...?

hey everyone, i have a healthy BBF w/ OT bassetts, and want to go through transom...i CANNOT by any means afford those nice lightnings or indmar headers that cost 3k+, so will i lose power going with logs and the snail things? by the looks of them, it looks like i will lose alot of power...any thoughts? anyone been in this situation? i could care less about losing a few hp, but i dont wanna kill the sweet bottom-end holeshot that i have right now. thanx!

The TT Bassett headers are real nice and I see em used for around $600-$700 I can't imagine loosing a whole lot with those. Look at Marcrollin's boat he has a set. Way better than logs and snails

I hear depending on output of you engine that a 4-500 HP engine will lose about 500 RPM's with the logs and snails.  I use them but haven't tried the headers so I cant confirm.

i know! i dont want to, but if i do, ill have some shop do it, that does it all the time...thats the ONLY thing im scared about...cutting 2 4" holes in my pretty ride, lol...doesnt sound like the best idea...but i also want to have a conversation w/ the hott chick next to me when im idling haha!(whoever she may be ;)

Give Jim Brock a call....he had a set for sale on my site recently...and hes got a stockpile of parts....

even if they are rusty....take them over to embee in santa ana ....$250 and lifetime guarentee....they do a polished ceramic coating which helps keep them cool so you dont get a basset tattoo  ;)

Ried: you may be pleasently suprised at performance with with logs . A lot depends on you current motor set up ie Cam ,compression , heads, intake etc The best risers IMO are the type in the pic which can be "opened up " to 3 1/2 from 2 7/8 ' inch ID . Additionally adding a large  3 1/2 or a necked down 4" tip will really help exaust flow ! Probably the most important thing to consider here though are cam specs (duration @ 50* and lobe center), this may "decide" for you whether you can even do this or not ! call or PM if you have ?? right on guys! yeah i have no clue about my cam specs. tho...the seller refused to give me a build sheet or 'couldnt find one' lol...all i know is that its focking HUGE, and i have 11-1 compression...yeah i know jim brock for sure, just recently went to the swap meet and purchased some sweet TT tips from him, as well as another offy TR for my moter, the first one got stolen with everything on top of it...so i have no clue wether logs/snails are the way to go...i DO know that they dont get hott right? or am i wrong? but i would love those sweet bassetts for my motor...ill call and ask him. thanx guys, any other advice, post it up!

The Wild Raspberry had snails that were opened up also. First and only time I've seen it done.

Reid, drag that thing on over when you get the manifolds mounted and we'll drill the holes in the transom in the driveway. No biggie at all.  ;) You're still gonna have a loss of some RPMs.

If its all about talking to some chick you just met :o i would leave the Bassetts on there cause you can always talk when your in a cove or beached somewhere and this also allows you to ignore the stupid bitches ;D they start talking or bitching, Just hammer it >:D ( what cant hear you) ;)
