I know quite a few of you use tapatalk to view this forum. How critical is it of a tool for you guys?

Its causing a nightmare on the back end. Many other web masters are up in arms over tapatalk about this because they have us small forum owners by the balls.

Their only solution is purchasing their 'branded' package where they develop an app strictly for your site. yeah, that would be cool if there was a "SCJB" app in the google play market and itunes......but at the cost of $3,500

I know Tapatalk is a great tool for members, but they got my site by the balls as we move into a 'mobile age'.

I just started using it about a month ago and it makes uploading pics really easy!!! If I had this app when I built the Scorpion I would have prob added a 100 pics to the build of all the work I did to that thing hahah.. And they prob have you by the balls because they know how good of a app it is for forums.. However I dont use tapatalk to view the forum, I only use it to upload pics..

I dont really use it for this site. for the larger forums its helpful bc they have so many new threads per day, 99+. If it has you by the balls drop it.

So here's where I am at....feedback welcome.

I am going redesign a new theme for mobile users so the site is more friendly through mobile device's web browsers. This theme would be auto detected based on what you are browsing the site with. (android, iphone, ipad, tablet, etc). I will make it so its easy to read, upload pictures, etc from your phone without a ~$5 app.

Once I get the above ironed out, I will dump tapatalk like last weeks girlfriend.

I use tapatalk and love it. I still use scjb.com all day but I like looking at everyrhing on the site when im driving home sitting in traffic. Do whats best for the site B-RAD!!!

ill do the mobile theme for the site....if you guys are happy with it, i will dump tapatalk.

good thing is someones already done all the hard work, i just need to implement it and tweak it.

I view the site from tapatalk when I'm on the go, but based on what you're saying a mobile version of the site should suffice. Plus, with the head ache and expense to you I think we'll all survive w/o tapatalk.

I love tapatalk. I used the computer for the first two weeks after I registered, after that I've been 100% tappatalk.

I'd be fine with a mobile theme, hell I'd still use the desktop site from the fone if I had to.

I like tapatalk...seems easy to navigate. The forum specific apps all run a bit different, and take some figuring out.

This is the only forum though where I still see ads in tapatalk. There's always a go-pro ad at the bottom. Dunno if that's you or tapatalk.

Regardless, do what is best for you...we'll adapt

I only use the tapatalk just because I'm always on my phone. If you make your site more mobile based that would be awesome. Just remember you have an amazing site and no matter what you do your gonna keep your followers even if we gotta get on our old PC that's slower than our phones lol

All I use is Tapatalk or Autoguide. I don't even own a desk top, and have no idea where my lab top even is. Only reason I use them is because it makes it universal for me to go from forum to forum. Very easy to use and super picture friendly (if taken with your mobile).

But I wouldn't stop going on socaljetboats.com if it wasn't on tapatalk, and a mobile version would be really nice. I personal don't like all the extras of the full site. But that's just me.

I think I found a solution that will work for everyone. It should be ready to go live around the first of the year. Until then, tapatalk will be still usable.
