I sell car parts for a living! Right now is a GREAT time for the part stores! Everyone is fixing their old cars instead of buying new ones! CHA CHING!!!!!!

And with gas prices being so high everyone is after every last mile per gallon. I sell more computer programmers and cold air intakes than my warehouse knows what to do with!

I'm fortunate to have a job still. Waiting for the state to go bankrupt. So far gas is killin me most. I drive 83 miles each way to work. Luckily I can drive my fiancee's Toyota that gets 26mpg, if I had to drive my truck 13mpg I'd be screwed!!!
Crime rates are up so at least I have job security in that aspect.

There has been a steady down turn of volume at my shop in the last few years.  We do a lot of motorhome chassis warranty and suspension up-grades and fleet services.  Most summers we were taking appointments 2-3 weeks out, last summer it seemed to be 1-2 weeks and this summer it was always less than 1 week out.  We are getting less and less of the entry level coach owners coming in and a lot more of the mid/upper level coaches coming in.  The advantage is that the mid/upper level owners are willing to do the up grades with little question or hard sell.  We actually had record ($) months the first half of the year.  Now we are doing more outside sales for fleets and going to many more RV ralleys/shows to help get our name out there, just to keep my mechanics working.

for me im in the construction bizz so im screwed...its all 90% official...canada is looking for 750 journeyman ironworkers=me, and im going to be leaving for six months to a year...they pay for my flight and my bedding and food...rumor has it some of the other guys are making about 15k a month since im not from there i wont be really taxed and all this so imma be gone for a while guys...i think by november...the paperwork process starts october 8th so they can make everything speedy...i will be working 21 days 12 hours a day then they fly me home for either 9 or 10 days depending on the month so i will catch up then...im hoping withing 6 months i can come back to vegas and goto work...the downfall is that i was born and raised in vegas how do i do the cold weather and be so lonely?  oh well i like me some money and this is my only option, because according to my company they dont care about my work ethinc i just plain make too much damn money so they want to lay me off soon...sometimes i wonder if the union is even protecting me and my job

DHL is FUQD ,,,,,,,,,,,, full time roster is dropping from 152 to 116 next week with more cuts coming before the end of the year. Luckily, I'm #21 on that list...... if it gets down to me, they're shuttin the doors.

My Buddy Greg sent me this today :
I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.  Let's label it "WE DID"

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a WE DID.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.

What would you do with $297,500 to $595,000 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads.
Put away money for college – it'll be there.
Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car – create jobs.
Invest in the market – capital drives growth.
Pay for your parent's medical insurance – health care improves.
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean – or else.

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.  If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG – liquidate it.  Sell off its parts.  Let American General go back to being American General. Sell off the real estate.  Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.  Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'  But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion WE DID more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.

And remember, The Family plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

Kindest personal regards, A Creative Guy & Citizen.

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it's either good for a Laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!

Perhaps a few more creative minds in Washington and a few managers who can manage would serve the American people from getting into such dire positions. Make your vote count in placing some new blood in Congress. Time to turn over the controlling party politicians and elect those that can act in the interest of all Americans. Thought this is a creative idea to help Americans.

NOW consider the new $700 BILLION bail out that is being debated.  [/b] [/i]
