Type of berkeley pump

Hi all newbie question. my pump is stamped je on the tag but I am unsure if it is a split bowl? I think the pump is a setback pump with a ride plate. Just trying to figure out what I have. Any info would be appreciated.

For sure a JE and its not a split bowl. As far as being "set back" im pretty sure that is the stock location for that pump.

It's a Eco pump not much for high HP more for your family ski boat. I have the same pump on my 1990 Dana mini 19'

Negative Ghost Rider.

That is a 12JE.

That pump will take as much HP as you can throw as long as you can keep it loaded.

A 12JF has factory installed trim (Jetovater) and a split bowl.

The weak link in this pump is the noticeably short intake section that is actually molded into the hull.

Not a terrible pump at all. Just somewhat limited in the world of "bolt ons".

There is actually a Place Diverter model available for this pump. They are stupid rare used.

GT when I look up the 12je on Berkeley website it looks nothing like that pump specially the bole. Did they make more then one bole for this pump?
Just wondering because I have the same pump but cannot mount a droop or anything like the one in the picture.

Thank you gt the boat rides pretty well great family boat cruzes along about 35 40. Seems to come out of the hole pretty well. First boat just trying to figure all this out. Hope to meet up with a group meet one of these days. Have a great weekend.

Don't know what your looking at, but with the exception of the controls the 12JE is identical to 12JC from the bowl flange back.

When you say cruises, I hope you mean part throttle running. It is my humble opinion that ALL jet boats should top out between 50-60 mph stock.

Yes part throttle not into secondaries about 3800 rpm. I think max speed I've seen is 50 at about 5000 rpm.

Looks to me the 12JC and E have different intakes. But what I was wondering I suppose is can the 12JG bowl be mounted to a 12JE so you can mount a droop etc.
If you notice they have a different bowl on Berkeley's web site compared to the one I have and the one jbrundahl3@yahoo.com has that you can not mount a droop etc.
Nor install a SS intake or even more aggressive intake or even a shoe in. Like you can the 12JG.
I'm just wondering because I have always wanted to mount a droop and a Placediverter on my Dana but it has the 12JE so the bowl does not have the mounting holes just the steering pins.

You can mount a droop and a Place Diverter to A 12JE or JF.

But you have to change the way it's controlled. The steering won't work, the reverse bucket cable won't work, it's just a little more work.

There is no intake on an E or F. It is a mold insert.

The bowls interchange without issue but steering is different. JE have steering on the bottom, JG have steering on the top.

The intake is way different. The JE is steeper and designed to have the bowl farther back out of the hull. JE pumps need a good loader to work well.

Another option is to have your current bowl modified to take JG bolt on accessories... the "C" bowl that JE pumps use is actually a better design and more efficient for most uses.

Yeah that was what I thought. My Dana mini intake is glassed in around the pump crazy looking.
Where is on my CP it has the 12JG very different setup for sure a lot more going on between the two.

So the loader your talking about is the grate on the bottom. What does a performance loader look like? How do you order one or do you have to have one made? I have a 1989 ultra.

here just a couple pics of a loader grate. the general idea is to move water up higher into the impeller. it helps keep the pump 'loaded'. i believe you can just buy one or order one from a jet boat performance shop....not sure of price. may need to know what pump/intake you have.

This has actually never been proven. Personally I believe if there is a difference it is because of the terrible transition from the G bowl to the steering adapter

This could easily be taken the wrong way. Please do not take it in a negative manner.

You really need to consider replacing the stainless loader hardware with hardened black oxide hardware and through bolt it all the way through with nuts and hardened washers on top.

Edit: is is a total optical illusion. My bad. The shoe looks ok. Get them bolts changed...

Could I just have it coated with something. And your referring to the screw bolts? Don't I want something counter sunk? And your saying drill all the way through and do a nut and bolt?
