VW Techs

Any Vw techs out there that can help me out programming a couple keys for the kids 2005 Beetle? I was able to do the key FOB's but I guess there is one more step that needs to be done for the actual key to work. TIA.

I thought it was the same as a Ford.

Insert a working key,  start the engine,  shut it off and immediately put the new key in and start the engine.

Could be wrong,  my neighbor is a VW guy,  I'll hit him up.

He said you have an immobilizer 3 key.

You may be screwed.

They can only be programmed one time and suggests heading down to a dealer or an automotive locksmith.

Of you have the pin number for the car you can do it too. The above method might work,  but like I said.  Once.

Thanks Glenn. The above worked. The car starts, drives, all that crap but still have the flashing key symbol on the dash. Yesterday it would start but nothing else. Getting there.....

Ask him where I would find the PIN number.

You obtain it from vcds, a program to access the key.

Does the car die shortly after starting?

You have to do all keys at the same time.

Sorry bud didn't see that as far as for programming your key if not mistaken u have to plug a scan tool into the car to tell it that u have a new key to program then it will work. If u know anybody with a scan tool ask the too help u or if u can borrow it. Again sorry
