And the inlet side.

Do I need a puller to get the impeller off?

man.....that hurts.   :banghead:

ive seen videos of pump rebuilds....the nut holding impeller on can be tough to break loose....but i dont recall a puller.
not to say you wont need one tho....

good luck with it....

I got the nut off, but the impeller is on there good. It has a little shoulder in the back like you find on the front if a pulley. I won't mess with it if I need a puller.

On a positive note, I found a nearly complete pump for $400. Going to look at it tomorrow or Saturday and pick it up to build or have as a spare. Or if it is good enough I will stick it in the boat and complete build/rebuild this one over time.

Bought a second boat. Going to NorCal to pickup now. Don't judge, I know it's a Bayliner.  Hondo may be for sale soon. Still looking for a Southwind 18 that is medium blue and silver. Must be original gel. The last pic is exactly like the boat I'm looking for. That is what I grew up in.

A puller is typically required to remove the impeller.  A 3-jaw puller is recommended but I use a lot of heat and a 2-jaw on all of the pumps I have rebuilt.  If you do decide to break it down yourself, make sure to reassemble with anti-seize to make life easier for the next go around.  Give it a shot, it's easier than it looks if you have the tools.

I will be doing the work for sure. I'll grab a 3 jaw from my friend and pull the impeller this weekend then strip the shaft, seals and bearings. Going to pick up another pump right now as well.

Cleaned the bowl up so I can paint it before it goes back together. Someone got way to excited with RTV when they put it together last.

Just a friendly word of advice. DO NOT BREATH THAT SHIT! Zinc Chromate was likely used on the bowl. The dust is toxic and can enter your bloodstream,  good ventilation and a respirator. Better yet, wet sand it.

Not trying to scare you, but it's worse than brake dust.

Dropped of the CP to Taylor Performance and Marine for a little cab work and minor tune to the timing.
I have never really taken my boat into a shop before I always do the work my self.
