I was looking at a '70 Hallett and was intrigued by these log/snail combos., Anyone ever seen these and know who made them?

The seller responded with a few close up shots. The engine package is from Appliance Marine, Harbor City, CA in (I'm assuming) 1970. These are absolute BEASTS as the log and snail is one piece! Kinda cool that the port into the log is pretty much horizontal (maybe even a tad up) as opposed to most logs ports that drop making the flow turn 90 degrees. 70's high performance..... gotta love it!

What am I missing, there is still almost a 90 degree turn to the snail.  What is the internal diameter into and out of the snail compared to other log set ups?  Cool looking design never the less.
How is the blower motor coming along for the river cruiser and how is the progress on the Model A?

Hey Dave,
The angle I'm talking about is leaving the head into the log. BBF exhaust ports go up to exit the head and most logs direct the flow down again. That's the 90 degrees I was talking about. The snail part of these logs has a pretty good angle to it too, but not much more than most others.
No blower motor, just a naturally aspirated 545 and waiting on the rods from Lunati. The body's about to come off the '31 again so I can finish welding the frame, paint it, and finish the recessed firewall. Trying to get that on the road by Labor Day

I understand somewhat about the logs.  I am not understanding the connection of the blower pictures with where those cool parts are going to end up.
What the hell did I miss, I'm just getting old.   
Ether way I'm looking forward to seeing the final out come.

Figured it'd look stealthier if everything stayed under the engine cover, which required swapping intakes. I can get the same hp with this combo that I could with a blower motor, so rather than piss off the wife with a blower, she keeps her mild mannered looking cruiser. Tom's building a killer pump that'll make this boat come alive (even for a 21). Jacuzzi WJ converted to all AT internals. AA mag-bronze impeller and inducer, but haven't made up my mind yet about a droop.

So Mike, what the hell is that beautiful blower going on to, the Model 'A'?
I would seriously think about a strait snoot from Dwane. Your boat has to be close in weight as my Hallett.
You know my feelings on droops on heavy boats unless you are throwing tons of horsepower to the pump.
My Foxwell engine turns the Starkweather stainless 'A' impellor induced pump with a straight snoot with 8 degrees of up wedge to 6,000 RPM.
No porpoise what so ever at any speed with the Hallett with my set up.
Do the math and remember what you said to me about the strait snoot at my birthday party at Victors house.  Down wedge with a straight snoot is the same as keeping your diverter in the down position, no lift.
The straight snoot is nothing more than a extended lever, wedge it up and let the force work for you.
It works for me and you know it.
