Just got back from Laughlin
« on: April 19, 2011, 09:58:50 PM »
Just got back a few hours ago. I desperately needed a few days off from work and I thought I'd check out the Avi for the first time as I'm considering launching from there this summer. Here are some pics I took from the Avi. Didn't see alot of boats or pwc's. The current looked to be very strong. Is that normal?

We boated right by there on the way to Lazy Harry's on Sunday afternoon. Not very many boats on the river yet. They will show up though. Beach gets crowded with PWC's. Launch and go find a nice beach. Current isn't too bad. There is Big Bend also. Just up from AVI on River Road.

the current is challanging at the ramp but manageable...
anything more than a boat length or so off the trailer then you will be in the current

x2. It will help if you have a couple of people with you to help guide the boat on. But it can be done with just 1 person in the water.

Or you can be like a guy I saw with a real nice Bahner. He made a couple of hot passes waiting for his buddies. They backed in right next to us at the ramp, just not deep  enough. The dude drives the boat right up on the fender. They mess with it for a minute and then he says "Let's go" and left with not completely on the stringers.

You should be fine. Have fun!
