Long story short I'm replacing both axel's on my trailer(for 21" daytona). Looking at 2 rated at 3500#'s ea. Does that sound about right? Overkill, underkill?

If it's only 21 inches, why not toss it in the cab of the truck and not use a trailer at all?

In order to eliminate tongue weight, yeah, gonna need to relocate the axles. But if towing with a light vehicle, there's gonna be a price!

I wonder if the boat would fit on the old Beezer trailer I have? ([probably) Could load that onto a hitch with one hand. Anyhoo, it's there to try it, Just too heavy to hook it up? is that the issue?

Ooops well if'n your gonna get a techy and chit it's 21'7" ... my bad.  On side note my boat has too much tongue weight, maybe I can have them install 2" drop spindles, and instead of having them  "drop" I'll have them set the tires fwd 2". I dunno, maybe that's the stupidest thing I've thought/said all day.lol

How much tongue weight is too much??

In order for it to tow well, it needs at least 20% of the total weight on the tongue...I would be think 2- 2500 lb. axles would be more than enough...Does your trailer have the rated weight on the registration?, that would be the way to do it...

As far as adjusting the tongue weight, put heavier springs on the rear axle, maybe do a 60/40 deal...beats the cutting and welding game.

I call BS !!  I just measured mine and its 21' 2".  What did you do wax yours with Viagra.   


 On a serious note,  can you move the boat back on the trailer a bit to lighten the tongue weight ?   With the OB on mine I can lift the tongue with one hand.  But the hull sits pretty far forward on the trailer (about 6" of the bunks stick out behind the hull).  Yours might still be sitting where it was when it had the OB on it.

Freek, nothing gets by you guys.lol  I've never put a tape on it...for some reason I thought I'd heard a 19' is really 18.5'  and a 21 is about 21.5' . That reminds me of a joke.....did ya hear about the lawyer who took viagra? He grew taller.   Man I've been getting ressponse all over the place as far as "proper tongue weight. Been told 5-10% 9-15%  10-20%.  Over on pb I took my best guess as to total weight of my boat at 1800 lbs. Someone over there told me the boat was more like 1500 and the trailer 750-1000 lbs. If if was 2500 lbs x 20% thats's 500 lbs. Holy crap I might have to hire a fat chick to sit on my bow. Any edjucated guesses as to what my combo may weigh?  I brought the axle's yesterday, gonna weight the tongue weight when I get her put back together

 No fat chicks on the bow (that adds tongue weight  ), plop her down on the pump (no pics, PLEASE !!).
